This would make a fantastic magazine delivery device.

B&N (actually eReader at present) have a beta stand-alone Android Reader, and the Nook runs Android. Amazon probably has an Android Reader in the works. I was arguing that vendors needed to get with the Android program based on momentum in the cell phone market, but I was looking in the wrong direction. Android is the clear early leader in the non-Windows tablet race.
Not a bad device. But the screen seems to be a compromise solution. The b/w is not as good as e-ink and the color screen is also 1-2 years behind regular netbooks/laptops. Then again, it may be good enough for some who just must have an all-in-one device --- then again, you will still need a phone! Well, it is a first step, in a few years we will get something great. I will stick with dedicated reader and laptop/phone for browsing for the moment.

It looks neat, but I really am a little reluctant to go with a tablet without a keyboard.

If a decent small form netbook with Pixel Qi comes out, or an ebook reader device, I may jump all over it. Would love to give it a spin to see if it'll be better than e-ink.

@ original poster:
If you'd ask me,the design looks too slick to me!
I wonder if the end product will be so 'stylish' at the border of sportive and 'futuristic'.

I think the edges will be less exaggerated, not to make it look like a white alien blob, but still keep it's sleek looks.

I am happy with PixelQi finally getting on the stage,
but wanted to see some netbooks first, as I'm more interested to see this work on Windows XP and on a device that I will be purchasing, and is usefull.
I find little reason to purchase a tablet that:
1- does not have battery life comparable to netbooks of today (8+ hours)
2- does not have the performance of netbooks
3- does not run an x86 architecture OS like Windows XP or Windows 7
4- does not have an easy input device like a keyboard.
5- is most likely not upgradable RAM/HDD/SSD
6- has too few or no USB ports.

ya realize that is a misuse of the original definition of a tablet, right? some marketing wonk in days gone by decided that the convertible notebook needed a shorter name that implied increased portability so they commandeered the term "tablet" to mean a laptop that could convert into a slate/tablet device.

I could see why people would love to see such a device with this sort of display though...me, I just want a slate PC device not a convertible. I already own a nice iGo BT keyboard I can use if need be which I seed with my N800 when I want to do some note taking. But that sure drains that teeny battery...and fast! haha...

one of the neat features I just noticed is the MATTE finish display. That alone puts it on my radar for a mobile device. And given the MBB options it should be very easy to add a service such as Millenicom for a flat $50/mo with unlimited bandwidth (used them for over a year until I stopped traveling as much.

The weight looks fine as well...at 1.7lbs it's only a bit heavier, practically speaking, from a Kindle DX or even a DR1000S. The one negative is the phrase "built-in battery" which to me implies a non-user replaceable battery which in fact might even be soldered in place to thwart those of us who can mange to replace the battery on our own. With that in mind it's a 3yr device, max before the battery is rendered pretty ineffective and near to a 50% max charge of the original capacity. For this it better be very cheap. In fact that spec would be enough to turn me off from buying one.

I am waiting for a Win7 device over Android. Win7 will have an entire host of reader apps which can run including Amazon PC version = the ability to read my existing Kindle books and buy more when the mood strikes. I really want a device like this for reading reference books and photography mags and books as well.

Time will tell I suppose but I will hope things will end up good. Oh, the comments on the device are in line with everything Jepsen discussed in the interview with Charbax earlier this summer, including her flatly stating that the Kindle was better in direct sun than this generation of 3Qi panel.
