I think the firmware should be improved to enhance battery life when the device is locked, as it seems to drain the device within a few days if not turned off. When it is off, the battery lasts at least weeks

Well, I've never left my PP on for several days locked, so I can't comment. However, I'm pretty sure it would be possible to set up a timed shut down, but I would find that more tedious than helpful. Though a "shutdown if left for 24hours" option might work for you.

That is what the original firmware did, but last months firmware fixed that. I have been using mine using only keylock, and never shutting down, for the last two weeks. I don't like to have to reset the clock.

I agree. Since I installed the Nov firmware, I have literally been on the same charge for over 2 weeks. I try to read at least 3 hours a day, and I never do a full shutdown. I only lock the device.

November firmware, locked when not reading, and I get over a week of 6+ hours of reading per day
Updat to Nov (IMHO, skip the Dec update)

We sent out an email to the factory this morning. They will get it our tonight which is their morning.

We are really trying to find out fast as to when we will have it!

No, the problems getting the PP upgrade to download was a website problem and not the factory's problem so it will not impact getting the Upgrade for ther Basic.

They already have a fairly new version on the Hanlin site that includes the 9 levels of PDF and ePUB fonts from late November. The biggest problem with the V3 is that is doesn't support following links in ePUB or PDF like the PP does. This plus a back function to return after a link have been followed are significant technical problems which IMHO are more important than showing the clock YMMV.

Always Trust Dale (ATD)! Dale may well know what roadblock the factory is facing on getting the new firmware upgrade onto the EZ Reader Basic.

I do not know yet. We will try to find out soon!

Nov Firmware Update & Battery Life
Just to add my 2 cents to the conversation regarding battery life, I too have noticed a very marked improvement in battery life since the November firmware update.

However, reading all the posts about last week's firmware update, I think I'm going to pass on this one. All of my eBooks are in ePub format (anticipating the day when this format will truly be the universal standar ), so I don't want to risk the painful page turning issue. I don't listen to music while I read (too distracting for me, unless it's purely instrumental) so I don't need the thumb wheel changes.

Dear All:

All I can tell you is the latest (December) upgrade is on my personal Pocket PRO and I am now getting NINE (9) font sizes in PDF and EPUB with great graduation, a clock, the music while reading volume adjustment, and I am noticing that the page turns are as swift and fast as ever, and my battery life is lasting longer!

I do not want to tell you what to do... but I am overjoyed with the December Firmware Upgrade and I am enjoying it. This is (so far) only for the Pocket PRO... the 6 inch is supposed to be coming!

I will say that after you do the Firmware Upgrade

The fact that it performs differently on different people's devices is, in itself, a major problem.
