Kindle (wireless, dictionary, annotations), Sony Pocket (small, nice 'feel', library support), Sony Touch (compact, nice 'feel', library support, dictionary, annotations) are the ones I feel are front runners but...

Maybe compare the titles you're interested in on Amazon (for the Kindle) vs EPUB titles from just about anywhere else (for the Sony Readers).

I have done this, and Kindle comes out the winner. I do have one question though. Can I take books off the Kindle? If I transfer them on, I assume I can transfer them off. And, can I take off the books purchased through Amazon?

Basically, can I store books on the computer, and then only have the ones I want on the Kindle? (Like music for my Ipod).

You can store them on your computer and restore them later. You can also delete them from the device and have them still available for redownload from Amazon at any time via Whispernet. This is one of the features of Amazon's server-based ebook setup.

I assume that there is no fee to redownload them. This also makes the lack of storage expansion issue rather moot, yes? I mean, I can either download them again or save them on my computer. Either way, they are there (unless it is 1984.)
