While reading the book, holding down the select/ok button didn't bring up the book menu as usual, and if I left the book, it didn't remember where I was when I went back. Luckily, holding down the page forward button seemed to cause it to jump forward in increments of 10 pages.

I'm hesitant to try another book at the moment until I finish this one Has anyone else seen this before? Is it because of the DRM, or the ePub, or something else?
A short klick on Ok brings up the menu. A long one jumps you back to the start menu! Usually, it jumps right back where you stopped reading when you reopen, except on epubs where it jumps you to the virtual page instead of the REAL place where you stopped reading!(known bug) This might be what happened to you! Holding down the page forward button DOES jump you forward in increments of ten.

Don't overlook:

301 -> 166 dpi
360 -> 200 dpi

Apart from the G-Sensor (which, let's be honest, not too many people would use - and it's a battery drain), the 301 looks to be a better deal...
Also in addition to the difference in DPI, the trade of for a 6" device is a different level of portability as well as lack of the integrated cover. Both of which are why I am getting a 5" device as my everyday novel reader and, baring anything really revolutionary from CES 2010, there is little doubt it's gonna be the PB360. After that I am eagerly waiting to see the PB large format reader, of course I am looking at The Que and going to see what develops on the K3 front as well. I figure I have my K1 that I use now and then, as well as two other devices I use to read so I am going to be patient here. But for me the PB360, for all intents and purposes, is a lock.

I figure the large format device can have the wireless, even if it's only Wifi, as well as other features I also want in a device.

Ah! That's the problem. Thanks, I don't know why I had it in my head that I had to hold the OK button to bring up the menu rather than just press it. At least that works, and re-entering the book brings me back to the approximate page (as you mentioned).

Because if you want to open the book from the library you just click button and if you want to get the menu you hold the button. It is exact oposit to what you do from inside the book.
But do not despair! You can remap the keys any way you find comfortable ;-)

Ahah! My user-interface instructor would have thrown a (minor) coniption over that. Nothing like contradicting the previous mode to mess up people...

Oh well, speaking about ergonomics, the switch to hide and unhide the status bar can only be used when mapped to a key, but every key is already assigned one action! So you have to ditch one action to get this on a key! Oh and I already told this to Forkosigan but would like to tell the PB-people that are reading this as well: This is no good idea!

Well, I got used to that very quickly. It is exactly what I would expect. Short press brings up the function that is used much more often.

But ... I am using Vim editor on all my platforms, so I might not be your ideal generic user ;-)

Absolutely. In fact, there is whole range of dictionaries and you can switch between them (some interesting things I learned about kudzu that way)! Dictionary lookup on all formats is a BIG plus for the PB firmware!

Better!

It comes with a dictionary converter. That works especially well with lingvo dictionaries!

Will that be Abbyy Lingvo or Lingvosoft dictionaries? Or those two are the same?
