I am personal friends with Glenn Wheaton, who the Clooney character in Men Who Stare at Goats is based. He is not insane like the character, and I've seen him do some amazing things.

I was already familiar with many of the scenes in the movie from having heard them years ago. And no, he didn't kill the goat; but he watched some one else do it.

Yes. I read reviews. I don't care about "entertaining" reviews -- actually would discount any review that tries to be cute. I prefer direct, accurate, impressions. I also read any reviews available as well as any blurbs (whatever is available) before deciding to part with my hard-earned cash.
