Welcome to MobileRead.
Your wish list is very near to the ones everyone here has. "Price" is a major complaint about almost all readers. Now the Sony ($350) has a 6" screen (measured diag.) The iRex (~$750) has a screen within your requirements. Those are both e-ink devices. There are others depending upon where you live. The cheapest dedicated reader I know of is the eBookwise-1150 (~$125) that reads Rocket Book format. That one has a 5.5" gray scale LCD screen (1/2 VGA resolution.) In non-dedicated devices, a lot of people use a Palm. I used one for several years as it was part of my cell phone. (I still have the cell phone, I just don't read on it anymore.) As for book purchases, the iRex and Palms (and a host of others) can use MobiPocket which is widely supported for new book sales. Sony has their Connect store. There is also one for (or more) for the Rocket Book format. Hope this helps. |
