From an an older request I created a recipe for Rzeczpospolita

rzeczpospolita.zip

As far as I can tell it actually works - on calibre's viewer -, but when I transfer it to my Sony PRS-600 all the Polish special characters are gone. I suspected that the fonts on my reader are limited to the latin1 charset, but then I read this:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64989
so I started to doubt that again.

Thoughts, anyone?

The sony reader definitely has fonts only for the latin1 character set. Youhave to use the xtra_css trick to point to other fonts, if you want to read non latin1 documents.

Just see what I did in any of the recipes in Serbian language in extra_css. You should use the same method for any non latin-1 language.

Sigh... if you can't get away with installing rootkits anymore, you can always fall back on implementing unicode to where we were ... oh 10 years ago. Thank you Sony!

Thank you for the reply. I had a look at the Bic recipe; tried it with and without the extra_css property and it did indeed work on my reader (with the property) and not without it.

I did not know font-embedding was implemented, but I will get back to the drawingboard.

Might have some additional questions though. Hope you don't mind if I ask them.

Need some help with this site, .xml files do not seem to be coming in correctly and maintaining their font on my Astak Pocket Pro (which can handle asian fonts).

Lifehacker.jp: http://feeds.lifehacker.jp/rss/lifehacker/index.xml

The basic news feed grabber for the following site works generally fine (the ToC comes up as ??? but the news text is fine), so I don't know what the problem is:

Yomiuri news http://rss.yomiuri.co.jp/rss/yol/topstories

AZCentral Request

This is the Arizona Republic Newspaper site. I created a simple recipe and the content downloads. The table of contents/article briefs view ok. However, when you view the actual articles the screen "colors" are reversed. You can't read the actual articles. They are black with greyish text. Any ideas?

http://www.azcentral.com/help/articles/info-rss.html

Specifically this feed:
http://www.azcentral.com/rss/feeds/news.xml

Only thing I can see is that the links take you to the real web site verses another RSS feed of the full article.

Thanks,
Chris

Just using the New Scientist recipe and noticed it seemed to be skipping articles like this: http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/cu...-e-readers.php - any ideas?

Probably because the idiotic article doesn't mention calibre Seriously though look at the conversion log to see why articles are being skipped.

Can I do this from within Calibre or do I need to create and edit a file in a text editor? I know I should go read the docs again. Thanks for your suggestion.
