I figured out why your cart changed. If you put one book in your cart that is coded properly as credit card/paypal only, i.e. one of the 100% rebate books, the rest of your cart then is coded properly. Find out the offending book and remove it and you'll see your cart revert to no credit card/paypal status.

Except, that I have $20 credit, so I'm not adding any money - I get all three and still have just a bit more than $5 left over.

Which I can use on another book ....

Not to mention, I add in the 25% coupon, so paid 7.50 for each book and got 50% back each time .... leaving 8.75 (ok, more than that, since I get the 15% member price, but you get the idea....)

I'll try on one small book to see if the rebate is still working, despite the warnings.

That was exactly it, thanks. I went ahead on the NYT bestseller I had in there (100% rebate), then the CC restriction went away.

I'll have to shut myself in a room to read for the next few months....

Lets say there are two books priced at 9.99 with a 50% rebate level. You get 5 bucks back with each one, that gives you enough space bucks to buy one 9.99 book.

So for $20 you've gotten 3 books for an average of $6.66 a book. That's only a 33% discount, not the 50% you were thinking you were getting.
Yes, but right now you *are* getting the discount when you pay with Micropay. A really sweet deal. I bought almost my entire wish-list with my $132 Micropay balance, earned mainly on 100% rebate books.

I've spent $613.17 total at Fictionwise and prior to tonight I had received 156 books for an average cost of $3.93/book. I added 35 books and a short story tonight, only using my Micropay balance so now have 191 books (we'll ignore the short story) for an average cost of $3.21/book. Not too shabby considering many of these are higher priced books that are still selling for $10-12. For example Infidel which is $9.99 for the Kindle version or In the Woods which is also $9.99 for the Kindle version.

Plus the $3.93/book I paid before eating through my Micropay balance wasn't a bad deal either, although some of it was earlier Micropay purchases.

I failed. The combination of this sale with the 25% off coupon meant I was getting 70-75% off the ebooks when buying with Micropay.

As it turns out I was looking for a certain book just now and the only 3 formats are mobipocket, ereader, and secure ereader. No multi or epub that I could find. And I find that on most books I am looking for. I will keep trying to find a multiformat one of the ones I am interested in, but no luck so far. Unless I am missing something. Which is highly likely.

Books with DRM are not Multiformat, but in a single format, with Fictionwise those are most often Mobipocket and eReader. If a book is multiformat, that means what it says: that you can pick the format you like best. Those books do not have DRM.

When you want to get a FW Multiformat book for your 505, ePUB is the best choice.

That's what I get for replying after midnight (and looking thru the book sales for a few hours, filling my e-shelves). I did the same and had a couple I still wanted, which is why I went ahead on a couple of NYT bestsellers w/ 100% rebates (which caused my cart to want a CC for everything until those 100% rebate books went away -- yesterday, early, I could have a mixed cart and ignore the ones that wanted a CC). I not only filled in a few series where I had missing titles, I bought a couple that I already had in paper (that I've read and was keeping to re-read), so those can go to used bookstore (or half.com) now.

Although I keep a running total and average at Amazon, I don't for FW - I'd be afraid (very afraid) to see how much I spend there each year. But, I do know the cost/book is fairly low, as I shop as you do - 100% rebate books (preferable w/ coupons) and then save up credit for their sales or for magazines (which cost more at Amazon).

I also got a few at below Amazon's 9.99 price - the coupon plus 15% plus 60% really dropped the net, and all paid with credit.

I should add that my Micropay balance was almost all from expensive books -- new releases that were usually $17 -- so getting my average price/book down to $3.25 is really impressive, considering all the $12-17 books I bought to get the Micropay balance in the first place.

... and that's me done with Fictionwise for, I don't know, the next six months. Twelve books for thirty dollars, including some expensive recent ones, thanks to a combination of 25% extra discounts, getting the micropay even when paying with micropay, and working things out with a calculator.

Dear God. It's going to take me a long time to get through some of the stuff I've accumulated.
