Arrrrgggggg! I just got pulled over by a local policeman for failing to stop at a stop sign they installed two weeks ago in the middle of a street because the neighbors kept complaining that drivers were speeding down the street. I haven't driven that way since they put the sign up and since it's in a weird location (the officer's words not mine), I completely missed it. I hoped that since I was going the speed limit (25) and haven't had any kind of ticket in 30 years he would let me off with a warning, but no such luck. He gave me a ticket for "failing to observe a posted traffic sign" (a $30 ticket) which was the minimum ticket he could give me without issueing a warning. I think he felt kind of bad about it because he remarked on my great driving record, but he still gave it to me.

Knowing the people that run the town I live in, he was probably told not to let anyone off with a warning.

And if you put up a new stop sign, you put small lights around it, that flash. So that people NOTICE the new stop sign.

I would like to say that they did none of those things, but in reality, there were little orange flags on the top of the sign.

I just didn't notice them because of all the Christmas decorations (and the fact that I was trying to remember what I needed to buy at the grocery store. The good thing is, I have learned my lesson. I just won't drive down that road any more.

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but over here, a polite letter contesting the fine based on bad sign placement would often get the fine revoked..?

Looks like the only one they don't have you have in the Marine Corps. With all that time in the service you should have a nice retirement waiting for you
