TRUE, that's why I first used the NY Times best seller lists but after only a few letters the only matches were definitely NOT well known books!

hmm... got all the letters. Found a book title.
I'm a bit bored and have nothing to do so I started counting the odds.

I estimate I'll have 1 in 10000.

17000 views for this thread. Of those 60% will get all the letters. Of those 60% I would say 90% will find the book title.

Is 60% too much?

I would disagree on all those numbers:
1. The 17000 views does not mean unique users. I've looked at this thread dozens of times.
2. Many views were generated by users, who only read the announcement and decided that it was too much work to take part in the contest. So I would argue that less that 60% of the users that read the announcement is taking part.
3. Having all the letters, I assume everyone will guess what the title is, so in my opinion the last figure should be close to 100%.

I expect that everyone that gets at least 8 letters will be able to figure it out.

Then again my jaw hit the floor while I was watching The Amazing Race last night. This is a "reality" show about couples that race around the world. Sometimes they are given clues to figure out where to go next.

They were in Las Vegas and the clue was something like, "Go to the place named for the most famous hotel in Monoco". I immediately knew what it was.

Only 1 of the three teams knew what it was. The other two had no clue. The cab driver said "The Venetian". Ok, no. They were talking to themselves saying "What country is Monoco in?". Someone said... "It's in Spain. Yea, Spain." Yea... ok... I am not the best geography student, but please.

They ought to, given that it's supposed to be a 'well-known' book, but who knows

Psst: It's 'Monaco'. I didn't know there were an especially famous hotel there though
