Really, I actually found it easier to skate backwards. I haven't been on ice skates in probably 30 years or so.

I did ok on the backwards thing as well. I wish there had been women's ice hockey when/where I was growing up, I was just too tall and broad shouldered to be a figure skater

I also had trouble backing up in a car (thankfully I've over come it). The only accidents I've ever been in were when I backed-up into another car or gas pump (that's a whole 'nother story. One my father likes to pull up at family dinners. ).

You'd think Ice Dancing was the greatest sport ever invented judging by the hoop-la in the press at the time. But ask anyone in the UK to tell you who the current champions are and no-one would have a clue.
They were also responsible for the "no dying on the ice" rule that was later implemented to get rid of the knock offs that followed.

Oh, Torvill & Dean were fantastic!!!! I loved watching them skate. Watched for a few years after too, but then lost interest. Scotland, send out another really bar-raising team like T&D!

Actually, I had thought England, but didn't somebody from Scotland claim them a few posts back? Well, let's just say UK and leave it at that.

Ahh! Dear daughter... Things are going to change soon. More children play soccer in Canada than hockey, football(the american type) and baseball combined.

the first time i ever heard of curling was in an episode of Corner Gas. i thought they made it up as a joke.
Did you see that at your cousins place? I sure hope that ... canadian closet stuff isn't exported!!!

The personnel manager at work wears four inch heels, all the time. I asked her how she walked in them on the highly polished (and HARD) floors. She says she can't walk in flats or bare feet. I've seen her in flip-flop sandals once...I watched her for as long as I could get by with it to see if she'd fall down, LOL. She didn't while I was watching, worse luck. I like our personnel manager just fine, but I have a really hard time believing she can stand those four inch heels ALL the time.

When I was younger and BK (before kids) I used to where 3 inch heels to work everyday. Other women in my office would wear sneakers until they got to the office and then changed into more appropriate business footwear. Not me! I thought they looked silly and I was young and single. . .and stupid. . .so I wore my heels even schlepping (what seemed like miles) through the parking lot.

High heels are supposed to make our derrieres look better and, as you probably already know, how our derrieres look is pretty important to women.
