Earlier this week I said to another MobileRead Forum member via a PM that the Huffington Post "admittedly is hit-and miss when it comes to matters of science." I've even commented on this on their website:

Given their spotty record on science, I'm not totally surprised at what they have to say concerning new technologies.

I find the anology laughable. The Kindle is not the only reader device. If you don't like the possibility to have books removed get one where you have all the control.

As for 'them' making books dissappear - eBooks stand a greater chance of surviving any form of censorship. Think of billions of copies stored independently around the globe. Once it is available on the internet any agency would be fighting a losing battle to get it removed and even a more impossible task in tracking the copies down.

Mr Kaufmann, why do you feel the need to sound like Hitler? If your are serious, here is the bad news for you: "The Kristallnacht of Ebook reader smashing" you are dreaming about won't happen, I have to disappoint you. And electronic books and the internet will help bring more people away from senseless TV shows than paper books. However, your rants are getting so ridiculous that I almost suspect that you are actually Jerry Seinfeld pulling our collective legs here.

And yes, the majority of us do pay for our books, even when we buy them as ebooks, because we respect the rights of authors and others that help to bring them to us. That was the one point in your article that did make any sense.

But I don't understand how you can have read what you've read in my Huffington Post piece about the history of Nazi Genicide and destruction of the PHYSICAL book, and still not understand why your ownership and advocacy of a machine created to displace the book as a cultural artifact is a kind of cultural crime and prefigures a totalitarian condition that could lead to genocide.
