one year the son was to get a very fancy (and expensive) video game controller. it didn't come, so I did the old box in a box and so on, and the final internal box had a picture of the controller as well as a pound of round balls (bullets for a muzzle loading rifle) his anticipation had built so high and his face fell so heartbreakingly, I'll never do anything to that extent again

My saga continues, even the New Orleans Saints Pro Shop is out of the jersey in her size. Who would have thought that there would be a run on Saints jerseys in size 10/12?!?! I did find out something interesting in my travels across the web, most of the web stores are actually interconnected and ultimately lead back to one main store. Who knew?!?

Turns out we had a terrible blizzard and the UPS deliveries slipped by one day. Christmas was on a Monday and UPS does not deliver on Saturday (at that time at least) and Saturday was a perfectly clear, driveable day!

They had to wrap up Pictures of the presents and put them under the tree for Christmas.
I think that was a great idea. At least they knew what they would be getting as soon as the roads cleared!

Our first Christmas here in NoVA, we decided to use our "family money" to buy a new digital camera since our old camera was no longer working. They had a deal at Best Buy where they would wave the overnight shipping charge, so instead of just driving 30 minutes to the store (and justifying this laziness by thinking that I had too many other things to do) I went ahead and had them ship it to me. As it turned out, UPS got so far behind with deliveries that they never delivered the package. Consequently, we had no pictures for that Christmas. I cried for a good ten minutes on the phone to both UPS and Best Buy telling them how they had ruined my memories of my 3 year olds first Christmas in Virginia. I was pretty pathetic and cringe thinking about it now. In all honesty, it was really my own fault for not driving to pick it up myself.

Yeah. One of my favorite sayings is, "Ignorance is Bliss!" Of course, I mostly apply to that to things my adult children are doing. I also tell them that, "No news is good news!"

Hurling, on the other hand, is completely insane, and to be much admired for it. I love watching it on the rare times it makes it here on the telly.

Not to be confused with that other Gaelic sport, Curling, which is a curious mixture of housework, bowling and ice.

A good friend competed in the Winter Olympics in curling. He's the only Olympian I personally know.

Cruling is one of those sports that is really stupid, but for some reason, at the same time incredibly fascinating. I usually manage to get stuck in front of the curling matches during the winter olympics for some reason
