From a very brief glance at some of the firmware files it looks like it flashes a slightly different image to your device depending on some version check eb600e or eb600em - not sure what the differences are between these two though.

Is it just me, or did they turn off the opening where you were in the last book again? I like that they finally replaced the horrible anime during the firmware updating, but I don't really like the CoolerBooks.com splashed everywhere - will be re-modding it with my custom images as soon as I can. There is a date/time section of the library function... but I can't see that it displays the time anywhere, like when you're reading or anything... that would be useful... Will do. How are you finding the new firmware? It seems a bit of a step back to me, but I can make a version that works with the new one. |

I've had an email back from coolreader's support but it didn't contain any actual information about the update - just that some bugs were fixed. On the off-chance I also asked where I could get the GPL code from the readers, so I've pointed her Wikipedia to explain the GPL and asked if she can forward the information to second line / the developers. |

The GPL says the distributor must supply the source code. So Cooler should supply their purchasers, and Netronix should supply Cooler. It's quite possible that Cooler modified the code they got, or even found their own software suppliers. Only go to Netronix for hardware documentation. And I do hope you get good results. In any case, it's up to Cooler to supply the code. |

Hi mtravellerh - a new version of skinMod has been released. Forum post. Trac page. It no longer requires any reflashing so you should be able to use it on your reader without having to lose any settings - though you might want to back up to make sure. The only problem at the moment is that there aren't many skins to try it with - I've put an example skin and the original files from Interead here. I'm begun work on a MobileRead skin, but it's nowhere near ready yet. Hi ytrushkov - yeah, I noticed. I've went a slightly different route with the modification so no-one has to reflash and so I don't have to worry about them changing names again. |
