From what I understand it is as simple as using the Calibre import functionality. You just need to tell Calibre where the copy is that was downloaded from the Sony site and it will import its own copy into the library directory you set up with Calibre. I got that from this thread here where I asked sort of the same thing.

hope that helps

I use 3 software programs to manage my books.

Sony Library is used to download free books or to make the rare ebook purchase.

Adobe Digital Editions is used to download Public Library ebooks.

Calibre is used for everything else.

Well, I was refering to those books bought from Sony Store - they show up in your eBook Library automatically. I managed to find them, in My Documents\My Books\eBook Library, but they have strange names - like cbuscehqn025mj05.lrx. When I tried to import one in Calibre, it didn't work, probably because of the DRM.
I think, what I was trying to do was to use only Calibre in managing my library.

Thanks, anyway.

You should have been able to import them, update their meta-data (title, etc) and copy them to your Reader with no problems. What you can't do is convert them, whether to a different format or even the same format (to change the font size).

Got my reader today! So far I've only been using Calibre and everything is working great! Time to load up with books!

Can you only highlight and take notes on books from the Sony elibrary or books that you load from there?

I believe you can take notes on any book, whether purchased from Sony or elsewhere.

I've been taking notes and highlighting in books that I borrowed from the library and downloaded (not from Sony)

So, as long as it's on the reader, it doesn't matter how it got there, the notes and highlighting should work?
BTW, my new 600 was ordered today!!!! Doing my happy dance!!!!

Hmmm, well I must admit I don't find the Sony ELibrary all that useful for Buying books in the UK. I must be missing something that my American cousins have.

I did find Calibre useful in sorting out duplicate collection after I had to re-install (with a bit of brute force) the ELibrary after it wouldn't start.

If you install the US version you can get to the Sony eBook Store & 'buy' the free books they periodically have - other than that, it's useful for downloading from online libraries if you join one of them, but that's about all.

Thanks Gwen. Actually - you don't even need to install the American version, you can just set your preferences for the Region to USA. Then register, and then as you say you can download the free books they have on offer. Just as an example I downloaded a Star Wars book, which I am sure will be.... ummmmm. exciting?
