I've updated the package; recompiling dropbear to support scp.
http://www.avenard.org/kindle2/usbnetwork23-0.10.tar.gz

ssh/scp from and to the kindle will now work automatically.
I may add rsync if people think it may be useful...

Well, I've tried ssh access as well (0.10 package). While I can telnet the KindleDX, ssh root@192.168.2.2 would give me a "Connection refused" error message.

Re-download the archive, I've fixed the issue, I kept the same version number...

Hi All, Thanks for very informative site and forum. Specially thanks to jyavenard for all the help. Hippocratesnoah, I am facing same problem as you. Somehow the checksum for my framework.mario.conf is failing during update to 2.3.
Would you have a copy of your framework.mario.conf file which finally worked ?

I updated my kindle to 2.3 and installed http://www.avenard.org/kindle2/usbnetwork23-0.10.tar.gz successfully. After that I can ping the kindle and even access it using root@192.168.2.2.

But I cannot share internet connection of my Mac (Snow Leopard) with kindle.
I went to Settings and configured the RNDIS Network to 192.168.2.1
It seems to be working fine because I can ssh and ping. Internet sharing in OSX Control Panel is also enabled.

In Kindle DX I'm entering the following commands in search box:

;debugOn<return>
`usbNetwork<return>
`usbQa<return>

Is there any way to trace the address www.amazon.com from DX or other network command to verify this issue. May someone help me, please?

But cannot traceroute www.amazon.com

Traceroute works just fine for host

But in host I can traceroute amazon

Any suggestion why? It seems to me a DNS issue, because I can trace amazon ip

I confirm the scp is working perfectly now. Thanks! Would it be possible to have ftp function so it will be even easier to copy files to kindle with a filemanager?

as my message said it was NOT the replacement of the framework but the command "run /mnt/us/usbnetwork/usbnet-disable" which finally made me update my KindleDX to version 2.3.

I tried to update the framework before I did run that command and faced again a checksum error. However: One never knows. So here is the framework file I used.

And installed usbnetwork0.10 successfully.
But after using telnet/ssh/scp, the connection will be reset at about 100 seconds every time.
I tried using Putty/Win SCP at windows, ubuntu linux. Still the same error.

'Software caused connection abort' (Putty/Win SCP, tried keepalive option)
Connection reset by peer. (Ubuntu)
Would anyone help? Thanks!

I noticed the same problem with my kindle dx. The only way I can get it through is to turn wireless on and keep browing amazon store. That way the ssh session will not be kicked out at least for 15 minutes. Perhaps this has something to do with the linux system setup?

Had the same issue.

Never got toally rid of it using telnet, but if i run:

/etc/init.d/Netwatchd stop

at least ssh is stable. It stays connected for hours, even if the kindle puts itself into sleep/standby.

Thanks hippocratesnoah. I found that there was an additional space on WAN : true line in the file. Once the space was removed, kindle updated successfully

I am running nuts here ... I did the usbnetwork update on my Kindle 2 I - no problem.
The update log is showing everything og and I can ping the Kindle.
But if I am trying to telnet or ssh across - the Kindle is refusing connection.

I did a ps -ef and there I see the usbnetwork service running twice :
