Looking forward to *Twisted River*, Kenny. Meantime, I'm finding -- because the chronological gymnastics are much simpler to cotton to this time -- that the fine and subtle writing in *Time Traveller's Wife* is coming across much more this time.

I've been splitting my reading this week between this and *Year of the Flood*. I'm finding that one heavy going ... not because Atwood is a difficult writer, but because the version I have of the book has arrived in my 505 (through Calibre) as one massive single paragraph. Maybe I'll have to do a re-buy.

By the way, anyone read *In the Beauty of the Lilies* yet? It's top of my shopping list right now.

Happy weekend. Neil

I enjoyed The Time Travelers Wife and didn't really have problems with the chronology thing. I'm currently reading Flashforward. Maybe I'll try H.G. Wells Time Machine next.

Up the Line -- Robert Silverberg is one of my all time favorite time-travel novels.

Unfortunately, it's still not available legally as an ebook.

Thanks, Don. It's somewhat surprising, since her current book (Her Fearful Symmetry) is available. I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to read TTTW before going on to HFS. What genius devised this marketing strategy?

I am currently reading JR Ward's 'Covet 'and Diana Gabaldon's 'An Echo in the Bone'. Both at the same time as i am a little disappointed with 'Echo' and have put it down for a little while.

Now reading:

Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Lost Horizon by James Hilton

Vampire$ by John Steakley

And because MoetheCat piqued my interest I've just queued up James Ellroy's LA Quartet for a re-read

I just finished Sold to a Laird by Karen Ranney. I didn't notice any other romance books in this thread (not that I read all 205 pages), but I finished it this morning, it was released on Nov 24 and it wasn't what I expected. The protagonist is really well developed, and you can feel her grief when her mother, the parent that doesn't beat her in front of the servants, dies. The beginning was a bit of a tear-jerker which isn't often the case in romance novels. There is a happy ending though. I plan to start Dancing Shoes and Honky-Tonk Blues by LuAnn McLane next.

Hya Tom, Kenny and Don: I got *Time Traveller's Wife* on loan from the [site and URL deleted - illegal ebooks). I assumed it to be 'legal' because the library has been mentioned several times at MR as a resource. Must admit, though, I didn't look into it as carefully as perhaps I should have. Neil

Ah yes, I see. That place is definitely an illegal download site. I've look at a few of the books from there (Sound and the Fury for example) and they really aren't worth the trouble due to the formatting/errors/etc. I'd prefer the paper books I think.

Sorry, neilmarr and kennyc (both of whom are "good guys," as I feel I know you both - certainly kennyc, whom I've talked with due to our love for John Irving's work), but I had to edit the site link mentioned for Niffenegger's book, along with the quoted duplication from kennyc.

The site promotes and makes available illegal ebooks, as Kenny mentions - these are books that are copyrighted and are not legally available.
