				no zoom

Without zoom the new PDF support is basically useless for reading 2-column scientific articles. This should not be terribly hard to implement.

Well this is interesting. After downloading and installing the 2.3 firmware I looked at my book list and it had gone from 111 ebooks to 110. During the update something had vanished! I thought at first that it was possibly the older manual (although I didn't remember having it on my Kindle 2) but no, my dictionary is gone! I had the default dictionary that came with the Kindle 2 and now it is gone, any recommendations as to how to restore/add a dictionary? |

Amazon is really concerned about the nook... "QUICK, make a splash in the press with a major update 5 days before the nook ships!" /I'm updating my $189 K2 as we speak though.... |

Well..I read mostly scientific papers on KDX...Although I miss the nice zoom functions that I had with IRexDR, I think still the KDX is fine for reading 2-column papers.

Good. That would have been too weird. You think they may have updated the dictionary?

No one seems to have made mention of another new capability that I've seen. Along with adding the manual screen rotation to the AA menu they have also added "Words per Line" which adjusts the margins. I don't see much point in it myself but there it is. | |

I have played with my Kindle a little bit too much and it seems that I have changed some files, causing update 2.3 to fail. In particular I get: ota_install: C def : patch : patchinfo="/opt/amazon/ebook/config/netfront.ini":checksum failure Would somebody be so kind and upload netfront.ini (version 2.2.2). Thanks |

Dusano, where can you see the debugging output of the updater? I'm also getting an error during update. I've reversed all the changes I can think of, but there's at least one I overlooked. It would be really helpful to be able to figure out the offending file. Edit: Alas, I just deleted my backups of netfront.ini a few minutes ago, and also reset my device to factory defaults in the hope that might fix something. Sorry I can't help you with that file.
