On "three" is where you sprinkle the dried dodo-bird blood, the eye of newt, toe of lizard, and any other concoctions which may aid the verbiage.

And I thought it was because I wasn't chanting below a full moon.

Today is the day! I give up and will just have to dig them up one by one. Also, considering if I should just go ahead and prune the roses down while I'm at it. At least it is a beautiful day today (but suppose to be cold again tomorrow).

'tis the season of mournful mists
and grasses heavy with dew
of drops of rain that doth weave
a melancholy song upon leaves
afore they to the ground do gently fall
of spiders webs all spun bedewed
and gossamer strings in zephyr drifts
of whitened morns so chill and rimed
as diamonds in the sky
of lazy days
of capricious winds
full of fit and of mischief
of the first of the snows
that dance and flit
of waning sun
and greying clouds
of a season that knows
it's just a herald
between the summer last
and winter soon.

of keeping warm by blazing flame
with toddy and chestnuts on the fire
of darkened morns and darkened eves
and candles in windows lit
to guide the love back home

poem: stars and snow

another dream, perchance ?

Softly the snow fell,
across the dell,
it being summer,
outside of it,
winter was there,
waiting,
for the end of Autumn,
abiding,
like those who wanted to travel,
to the stars,
swiftly,
or in generation ships,
some of them,
didn't much care.

The snow fall was soon over,
it was just there,
to preserve,
the cold,
not inhibit the summer,
outside the dell.

The distant stars,
twinkled on the new fallen snow,
one or two,
casting shadows there.

Oh, how the Winter did dream,
of other winters,
on other planets,
oh, how it did dream,
there,
in that little dell.

Sometimes a human,
or so the winter thought,
came to the edge of the dell,
and it awoke, somewhat,
to see that being sit there,
just at the edge of the dell.

The human,
if he was one,
would smile,
and say naught,
just look up.

Oh, to the Stars !

Once,
long ago,
the human did sing,
if human it be,
about travelling to distant stars,
and what might there be,
maybe it was that Spring,
as the Winter rested in that dell,
its almost slumber slightly disturbed,
maybe it was that time,
it started to dream,
of voyaging to the Stars !

The winter was not certain,
if humans could float,
with no seeming support,
a few small inches,
above the ground,
but that was okay,
for the Winter did abide,
in that little dell.

And dreamed,
of Stars !

the end ?
