thanksgiving is my favorite holiday--it involves FOOD. Christmas, not so much. I wish they'd have that every other year.

Man (if you allow me to be overly-teenagerish), you've never been in my family for Christmas! On my mom's side, there's always plenty of wonderfully good food, and on my dad side, there is a real food orgy organized, where everyone makes the most decadent recipe they can find. This year's theme is middle-age food...I'm still thinking over ideas for this one...

do you mean food from the middle ages? my kids and I had a total renaissance feast once... we put a canvas drop cloth on the dining room floor, moved anything that was really delicate out of the dining room, and put more canvas on the table over the table protectors. everyone only had a sheath type knife to eat with, I found a bunch of miss matched stoneware goblets, and we had ribs and cornish game hens with bread. the guests were encouraged to drop their rib bones on the floor (not the hens, I did get all modern on their asses over that), beat their goblets on the table, wipe their hands on their clothes or the dogs, or each other. throwing of food was tolerated. there was a wrestling match for seating positions "above the salt". it was fun!

Personally...I'd go with the chocolate cream. You really can't go wrong with chocolate and ANY age. and I guess I better put my web link or you won't be able to make cranberries: www.BearMountainBooks.com Happy eating all!!! (shuddering at the thought of a 800 years old meal) Thank you for the link, recipes are always gladly welcome! Your cranberries will have their place somewhere during the holidays! You know, take out the whipped cream and you have a fun addition to muffins.

Why take out the whipped cream??? I say, don't whip it, put it in place of some butter and you still might have really good muffins... :>) Or...just add sugar to the whipped and put it on TOP of the muffins!!! |
