Krakatau
with nary a warning save a shiver; did a more transcendent quiver shatter that dreamy morn; an island blasted, and asunder torn. screaming forth; and powered by a million-million voices raised in anger; she did break from earthen anchor; to heavenward take her baleful tower and widen worldwide over, her fateful glower. global sunsets a-fiery glow landscape painters all a-glow. out-ward driven ocean wild, far to crash, outrun the tide. mystery of earth, she shattered uniquely the silence of a thousand ages, and loaded writings of a thousand sages; to write her earthen story, and gain her, everlasting glory. |

He's but the silent Joker in the pack,
and for what, if anything, does he lack. he's dealt his cards and yet the life he leads, barely lets him succeed. With nothing in the black, he's hardly ready to sing a track. the hand now dealt can no longer raise the trumps, he may as well take the jumps. But yet he may have luck's knack, a door once open - just a crack. mayhaps another chance is due but yet the life he leads, is barely making him succeed. He's but the Joker in the pack, always on track; sometimes his back..... discarded always at start of play, that way, never in the way. Life's just a poker game of chance of bluff of deep refrain; play that hand again he's just the Joker in the pack ..... |

Open your eyes, and greet the day,
Open your eyes, see where you lay last night at my side. Open your eyes, and greet the morn, Open your eyes, at red hot dawn; you know you enjoyed the ride, last night.. Open your eyes, and greet the day, Open your eyes, and come what may we'll love each other, ever more.. |

the stones
the stones connect our senses, take us back to days of yore. so tall they stand, so proud, so graceful towers what tales could they tell.... what visions they play.... come back, come back they call. the stones the stones abridge the tenses, each henge, a guide to spirit's door. mans due intent un-bowed, redeeming powers of nature's deepened well.... aligned to leys.... come back, come back they seem to call. the stones the stones break down fences, of man's un-written law. Mother's church endowed to mark the hours still proud, still tall, to chime a bell.... the changing of the days.... come back, come back they long to call. clock of seasons nature's reasons. blood of Mother congealed as stone, once nature-chiseled then a-pinned a-circle; anchored deep by man as bridge 'tween heathen earth and holy sky. one of jasper glows in rain as cups once flowed at sacrifice. woodland glades and ancient rhymes of spirits haven.rising sun, or falling moon: the stonesthe stones come hither and hence- forth our Mother's mercurial lore will be untold, unploughed, and never ours' a future only hers to foretell.... defined in virgin pathways.... come on back no longer a distant call. come back, come back she, through them, loudly calls. mark now, the season of cold and dark; commence the rite and herald a season of re-birth. the stones the stones. the earthen sod the new; unfold.... embrace her once a-new. |

Beautiful, GeoffC!

Candle we lit .... Villanelle form
It's a candle we lit, for a love that we know, let us show now for ever, we believe in the fight, and hold near those memories, never let them go. As a flame of life, let it ever show the pathways to what is now, and forever right, it's a candle we lit, for a love that we know. A beacon of hope; let it brightly glow forever to shine in the darkest of night, and hold near those memories, never let them go. No matter the wind, nor the rain, nor the snow, keep forever in mind a flame, so pure, so bright, it's a candle we lit, for a love that we know. Forgive the pain and the tears in life's flow, keep to the love, to the moments and the treasures tight, and hold near those memories, never let them go. Allow not, your thoughts, to grow dim nor surely bow, keep in mind forever, the eternal sight; it's a candle we lit, for a love that we know, and hold near those memories, never let them go. [ 3 hours of crafting and scratching to get this ] |

pernicious weed
no doubt you think you are freed to spread yourself at your need; have you not heard of manage, plan and order, how dare you insinuate yourself into my herbaceous border. just because we plant for the wild bird and bees do not think you may sow yourselves as you please from seed that floats on down from the breeze; have you not heard of manage, plan and order, how dare you wheedle your way into my herbaceous border. now to where does that root grow far below my searching hoe you've now made an implacable foe; have you not heard of manage, plan and order, how dare you cosy up into my herbaceous border. i'll dig deep beneath my feet and drag your stems from their very seat my compost heap will love the treat; have you not heard of manage, plan and order, how dare you ingratiate yourself within my herbaceous border. i don't want you here i don't want you there nor here nor over there no not here and definitely not there; or have you heard the latest word where wild is the key to the garden modern and true it is to say today a weed, tomorrow you're freed. |

![]() I've been walking through the lawn (and reciting this poem) and so far the weeds are STILL there. Maybe, it only works if I have a spade in my hands and I'm digging at the same time? ![]() |
