If you look close enough among threads here, you'll see Bookeen was to release a firmware in the first quarter of 2009, then around April 1st, before they switched to that dual firmware story. So I'm waiting for at least 11 months now.

Would it be possible to get the latest firmware off of a new Gen3 so we can all install it? Don't care about any legal issues, just want folder view on my Gen3. Can the firmware be "extracted" somehow?

No, but if you desperately want the new firmware, you can return your Gen3 to Bookeen and they'll reflash it for you. The firmware exists, just not the flashable version.

No, it's not on the web site, but if you write to them and moan about the firmware it's what they'll offer you - try it and see. I believe they do pay the postage, yes.

I didn't knew that. Would confirm the problem is the install itself. .

And as i'm living in france, sending the gen3 to bookeen is only a 10Euros.

Well, they did not pay postage for a warranty return so I doubt they will do it for this.

I am finding it hard to recommend Bookeen products to interested potential customers because of the lack of delivery on promises. The potential has exceeded the reality. Why are you so unconcerned with your reputation in the ebook community? It is beginning to become ridiculous.

Books On Board has a UK site, but sadly, if you go there and navigate to the Gen3 reader link you get

"This item is not for sale in the UK."

So Weltbild.de can sell this in Germany and Books On Board can sell this in Canada.

Bookeen seems to be slowly addressing their Christmas problem.
