I call that comfort reading (like comfort eating, but healthier!). How much longer before you can come home?

Just about to cook dinner as an old friend is coming by to eat.

The meal will be salmon fillets, gently steamed with white wine, lemon and lime slices, a little rosemary and garlic. Served with new potates cooked in herb butter, with brocolli, asparagus tips and french beans. Am still debating whether to make a light cream sauce to go with it........

Sounds nice (apart from the salmon) and congrats on the discovery

Stick a bit of cream in with the wine and stuff once it's almost cooked? (no idea if it'll work, btw!)

Good luck Pev, sounds lovely (and I'm a veggie!)- what you gonna wash it down with?

It's white rioja with fish, and red rioja with meat isn't it?

*sigh* I love birds. Especially natives. But WHY tap on my window to wake me up at 5.30am?

Off to astound workmates with my early-rising abilities... *snort*

AGAIN with the bird ? Yeah, maybe he needs something else to distract him. If you don't like the idea of a bird feeder, then maybe a cat instead!

Maybe he's tapping out a message - possibly something of earth shattering consequence. Or then again maybe he's tapping out nothing but crude vulgarites - in coarse mode.

Since we had the carpets cleaned I am sitting at the kitchen table using my Win7 w/IE8 Laptop while the carpet drys. Boy, I really miss my iMac and my 24inch monitor at times like this.

Yes, I had this machine Hackintoshed but I couldn't for the life of me get the WiFi working.... so I downgraded it to Windows again. I will probably put Ubuntu on it once I get my Plex Mac Mini set up and I don't need to run the PlayOn server to watch Hulu on the TV any more.

Now how can I convince my wife that I must buy a MacMini to be a media server.

if you figure that out, let me know. i need to convince myself of the urgent need of at least 2 gadgets currently (pfff, "currently". as if i'm ever *not* trying).

currently : timing my "submit reply" clicks to try and post in between my stupid internet connection cutting in and out. what in the name of all that is holy is going on ?????

(damned ! and i missed my window. update : currently watching my moden clock do the running ants thing while it tries to sync and tapping my foot impatiently. oh hey ! it's back ! HURRY !!!)

Well, one justification is that I will cancel the cable TV once it is set up... so that will save use about $60 or so a month. But, have to pay to get an antenna bought and installed.

Hmm... perhaps I'll will the powerball tommorow. I could REALLY REALLY use it.
