Personally I think much of the criticism is a bad rap. For example, I thought this little political light-weight trounced Joe Biden in the Vice Presidential debates.

I feel the real reason she is reviled by the media and the left in general is simply that she represent a successful woman that does not follow their agenda. Any popular minority or woman that has conservatives views MUST be demonized. It is one thing for a white male to hold conservative views, but quite another when it is a woman or a minority. Liberals can't afford to let women and minorities see conservative ideology as being a legitimate viewpoint that has answers for this segment of society. This is why they demonized Clarence Thomas and Miguel Estrada. They had to be marginalized in order to preserve the liberal base.

I haven't seen a thing about her that seems likeable. She's a poorly educated loudmouth with a massive opinion of herself. She's the real life Peggy Hill (if you watched King of the Hill) or Cliff Claven (if you watched Cheers.) I agree with you on this. The base of the Democratic Party is every bit as guilty of excess ideologism as the base of teh GOP. What ever happened to governing, rather than electioneering.

On Sarah Palin, I differ, but that may also be due to the different sides of the fence on which we sit.

I have not seen in her presence much of substance or of resolve. To me, she really looks as if she is parroting a line that she feels will get her the votes that she needs to be elected.

(Not that Obama is not guilty of same.)

Thanks for those links ardeegee. The support and understanding of science is definitely one of my primary issues in evaluating anyone who might be running for office or taking/speaking on the public stage.

I'm with you there. The problem is that to get elected politician must appeal to the majority and we have become a nation of Hollywood and Media rather than a nation of ideals. IMHO.

I think that what Daithi was going for was to have a civil discourse on areas in which we disagree. I, for one, grow weary of the over heated rhetoric these days. I am an Obama supporter and am upset by people who say they dislike him and then give as a reason, "Because he's a socialist!" This without any thoughtful listing of the programs he supports that are of a socialistic nature. Equally, I am tired of people bashing Gov. Palin and saying they do so "Because she's stupid!"

There are many reasons that I feel Gov Palin is not a good choice for President. I do not feel that she displayed an adequate ability to think on her feet and give intelligent answers to legitimate questions during the campaign. I feel that her debate with then Sen. Biden consisted mostly of trying to be charming and giving short "sound bite" answers that were answers to questions that she wished the mderator had asked. I would like for her to name a newspaper.

That is the sort of reasoning and discussion that, personally, I would very much like to see taking place about this so very important issue.

Ok I try to avoid talking about political issues.. but espessially on MR.

But, in my opinion Palin cares more about getting publicity and campaining and getting elected that she cares about the office or the consitituants. If she actually cared about Alaska and the people that elected her to the Govenors office she would not have resigned so she could start campaigning for the 2012 election. Because lets face it, that is what she did. The book is the first step. She can't actually start going on talk shows talking about 2012 yet... but she can write a book and stay on the radar.
