If William Shatner is the reader when the audiobook comes out, I'll consider buying it.

Okay, head over to www.wonkette.com to see a few pages from the book. There is even less there there than one might have imagined. Double-spaced text, wide margins on all 4 sides, and I swear the spaces between the words look extra large. It looks like some high-school kid trying to stretch a 3-page essay into a 10-page one.

But look at the bright side -- she'd quit in days because she had something more important to her legacy to do immediately. Once a quitter . . .

More pages on Wonkette. If the writing is this utterly horrendous with a ghost writer, I'd hate to see what Palin would come up with on her own.

Or maybe, true to form, she didn't allow anyone to rework or edit her horrible, dead, lifeless, stilted prose.

Politically I lean right, and I'd like to come to Sarah Palin's defense. However, I'm just not a fan (at least politically). She seems very likeable to me, and I'd love to have her as a neighbor. I just don't see her as a president.

At one point everyone made fun of Ronald Reagan as being a lightweight and a joke. He went on to serve as President for eight years. There are wildly differing opinions on his legacy. I'm just saying that it would behoove those of us who feel that Ms Palin is a joke to understand what she endorses as politcal reality, since her views will serve as the veneer of the administration she leads, should the unthinkable happen.

I know, I am showing my political leanings, here, but I prefer to be more prepared to fight against the possibility that this could happen, rather than complacently say that it would be entertaining to watch her as a candidate.

W was entertaining as a candidate, but was the President. I am more afraid of Sarah Palin than I am of Giullianni or Bush III.

You're absolutely right. We did elect Obama after all.

I've been wondering about something, and this thread is a good place to ask. If she is a lightweight, then why are so many people spending so much time attacking her? When someone gets this much negative press, isn't it possible that the media sees her as a serious candidate and is making sure that she is discredited?

No, the media sees her as a circus clown that will increase ratings for their shows, as did Oprah and the other "Talk" shows she has been on. For TV it is all about the ratings. That anyone could hear what comes out of her mouth and even begin to take her seriously is beyond me. People spend a lot of time attacking her because they are afraid the typically uninformed American public will vote with their emotions for an attractive candidate, rather than with their minds for someone of substance. Don't forget, they voted for Bush - twice.

The answer to that is two fold. One, see my response above. There are some seriously heavy weight backers in the Republican Party who see her as a candidate who could be popular, especially amongst the base. They are more than happy to have a figurehead President whom they can control from Blair House and continue with their policies and agenda.

Two, the media are basically inept. They think that, by bashing and making fun of Ms Palin, they are showing how clever they are. They ignore that they look foolish and they give her tons of free publicity, especially among the base, who basically hate the media for being snotty.

And Clinton, twice; and Obama, once (thank goodness). What's your point?
