Yes, she really got a well deserved ripping over that.

On the other hand, think of what a lesson in real-world capitalism she’s teaching. Her students are learning that money is more important than hard work, who you know is more important than what you know, and winning at any cost is what’s important in life. These kids might be future power brokers on Wall Street!

And those of us who still believe in education and fair play will be even further marginalized.

Yep. Right up there with social promotions, the second and third chance test re-do, "C" & "D" honor rolls, ("Fs" being non-existant grades these days), trophies and blue ribbons for sheer participation, blah, blah, blah.

The phrase "Failure is not an option" doesn't mean what it used to. Now it means "we won't call it failure anymore because it will hurt your feelings and it's bad for your self esteem."

there's no even ground here... no option for kids who don't have that 20... just another way for some to cheat to get by.

when I was in college I had an instructor that lost our mid-term tests without entering the grades. in an effort to be "fair" she gave everyone a B. I was on the Dean's List and that REALLY pissed me off! not to mention that about half the class were dragging down Ds on a regular basis

If you'd been a self-imposed dunce, then the chances of being disappointed or treated unfairly are substantially minimalized.

That really is not fair. She should have just given each person a score equal to their current individual average score for previous tests/exams/homework

Or nothing, or repeated the exam.... what stupidity!

I always kind of wondered if there wasn't a "relationship" between her and some of the more significant underachievers
