Nah, no goggies at work, this happened on the way to goggie day-care which is on a farm that is more or less on my way to work

They are there during the day when we are at work.

Just got an e-mail from my recruiter. I have been officially shortlisted on the job I was submitted on. Great news for me, but maybe not so good for MR. If I get it, it'll slow down Red contributions for quite a while..... (the Dec 24th target episode would be completely out....)

(But $45/hr W-2.... y'all have to cut me some slack...)

I'm having a very odd vision: Imagining a bookcase in a "normal" living room, but along with the physical books you would also find a Kindle, a Sony reader, an Astak, a BN Nook, an iRex....

I have various software on the PC I use to create book files, but that's a different matter.

Thanks for asking. It was an old Palm M130 (given to me), so I decided to experiment using the last old PC I hadn't torn apart yet.. I don't have an SD card for it and didn't want to buy one until I knew if I could get the PDA up and running. I had to experiment with finding all the programs, updating, etc... and didn't know if I would like using the PDA for reading..

Well, I like it so, I guess it's time to get an SD card and set up the programs on my laptop.. and tear down the old PC (time to recycle it, I guess).

If I recall correctly, the m130 doesn't take SD cards larger than 1GB, and doesn't handle SDHC cards at all. So you should be able to get SD cards for it cheap, but yuo'll have to make sure they are compatible.

I started reading eBooks on a Handspring Visor Deluxe, which is similar to the m130 by has a grey-scale rather than color screen. You have a variety of options for ebook reading. These days, I use a Tapwave Zodiac, which is also a Palm OS device as my main reader.

Most ebooks are conversions from HTML for the Plucker offline HTML viewer, a free, open source product for Palm OS. Among other things, I have the complete Baen Free Library and a boatload of Project Gutenberg titles. I also run eReader, MobiPocket Reader, PalmPDF and PalmFiction, and can handle just about any form of ebook content.

When you get to that point, let me know, and I can provide pointers.

Thanks! So far I only tried MobiPocket Reader and 2 books. A PD classic from here opened well, but the mobi book (Desbarollda, The Waltzing Mouse from pdurant) wouldn't display the beautiful illustrations as the error comes up as "not enough memory. Cannot display the image in full-screen mode." Then it goes to "cannot open".

So, when I have time I will investigate getting an SD card. Would you put the Reader Programs on the same card with the books? I have MobiPocket on the internal memory. (I have no experience with this and usually just do searches and read whatever I can find to get information.. then experiment on my old computers.)

YAY! for goggie day care! even though I live on a farm when in WA, mine goes to goggie day care here (when I'm working). couldn't find a place that took "big" dogs in CA. they were all clothing accessories at the day cares there
