AAAAARRRG !!! farking h*ll !!!!! i've just come home to discover there is no running water in my appartment. AGAIN. i have no idea why but i suspect that the same idiot neighbors as the last time reported a leak, probably to the fire department or some other completely inappropriate authority, and had the water shut off to the whole building as a result. i went downstairs but as far as i can see, the only cutoff faucet which is accessible is open. which means i can't fix this myself. and since it's now almost 2:30 in the morning, i'm reluctant to go banging on doors (reluctant, and yet so, so tempted).

this means no shower before bed and brushing my teeth with the tiniest drop of water possible. there had BETTER be running water tomorrow when i get up, that's all i have to say. i swear to ghod, if there is not a damned good reason for this, i think i will scream.

don't tempt me. i would do so, frankly, except that i don't actually have his home telephone number, and it's somehow significantly less satisfying to leave a message on the agency phone in situations like that. and actually i'm not even sure i *can* leave a message ; i wouldn't put it past him not to have any voice mail service at all.

I feel like throwing something at someone.

As for Boyfriend's problem, we know there is a ventilation problem: the production fumes seem to be redistributed trough out the whole building. Many of his coworkers are now taking med for various lung afflictions and working with masks, and many complaints have been lodged to the government council for work security. They said they were about to make a first visual inspection today, but no air testing is scheduled before next week, and the company is not being overly supportive of the employees, even though they could relocate the office to another one of theirs buildings about two hundred feet away.
And I oh so hope he does not have the flu! I kissed him all week end!

You should always call and leave a message! It can later corroborate your story when you sue the bastards for all their worth!

update : it is now 10:40 in the morning. there is still no water. i have been up since around 7.30, because for some incomprehensible reason i woke up and couldn't fall asleep again. i have been waiting and hoping the water would miraculously come back by itself (hey, it happened the last time...) : no luck. upstairs they have water. 2 floors down they have water. apparently it's just me.

i just called the agency who manages the building and the manager sounded *ever* so suprised to hear that i had no water, and promised to send someone to look into it right away. this is suspicious for two reasons : 1. the manager is an odious derog who is incapable of being friendly or helpful and 2. about half an hour previously a neighbor from the other building had called him, to report the problem, although she *does* have water (she called as a favour to me, but without naming me, because she gets on better with him), and the manager told her that she shouldn't get involved, that the chinese tenants hadn't paid their charges so "maybe the owner cut their water off." (note the sneaky and hypocritical use of "maybe" and "the owner" : if anybody's water got cut off deliberately because they didn't pay their charges, not only does he know about it, he gave the order, if he didn't do it with his own two hands).

i would like to say for the record that i HAVE paid my charges, first of all, second of all that's illegal, and third of all, the chinese neighbors (who, i confirm, have not paid their charges yet, and i know this because when i went downstairs to ask if they had water, they showed me the bill and asked me if i had gotten one like it) DO have water. i farking hate this building.

that is positively scandalous. is the government council for work security going to take some action ? i hope they are speedy and severe, there is absolutely no excuse for that ! you should tell your boyfriend that he and all his co-workers should go on strike until the problem is fixed, or else go to the doctor and get the entire company put on paid sick leave. maybe that would motivate the bosses to do something. unbelievable.

Wow Zelda - what a situation. We are pretty lucky in the UK as the water companies are not allowed to cut off your water for non-payment. In fact it causes quite an issue for one of my clients (a water company no less lol) as they often see people default on their water bills when times are hard.

Anyway I hope you are soaking wet in the shortest possible time

heh. they are not allowed to cut off your water here for nonpayment, either. have i mentioned how evil this j*ck@$$ is ? (to be clear, it is not the water company who would have cut the water off, it is the building manager / owner).

thanks for the wishes for getting soaking wet soon. i am hoping for the same thing. no sign of the plumber yet, or whoever he supposedly called.

Sounds like they may have cut your water instead of the intended victim!

The place I lived previous to this one constantly (at least several times a year) have water problems as well as sewer problem. I was never so glad to get out of a place as that one...

When I tell you that I am having an issue with the backup procedure on Win 7, why does it take you 10 days to advise me to follow a certain course of action : but very importantly to back up all data before starting ....

If it was funny I would add a laughing simile, but can't be bothered no more.
