Good stuff, all. I have The Naked God in hardcover, and the others in PB.

I've met Hamilton, and he's a nice guy as well as a fine writer. I met him when he was over promoting _The Sleeping God_ (which I helped to arrange), and at the time he estimated he had made perhaps a couple of hundred dollars in royalties from ebook sales. Unfortunately, his then publisher was one who didn't get it regarding ebooks.

Wow, it must be great to meet him in person. I fell in love with his work after reading a library copy of Fallen Dragon. Couldn't find any of his other books until now, at least none that I could afford. Over here his books go for around $22 in paperback.

His ebooks are still difficult to find and quite expensive as well. I couldn't find any that are in ePub format. Guess that's all for the good since his books definitely deserve a place of honor on any physical bookshelf.

I lucked out. I intercepted email from his editor to an SF con I was working on. She wanted to bring him over to the states for a signing tour to promote _The Naked God_, and wanted to know if the con needed a GoH. I got the con chair to read the Night's Dawn trilogy, and he said "Book him!", so I told the editor "We already have a GoH, but if you bring him over from England, we'll make him a Special Guest and cover his hotel tab for the con."

Interest from the con in having Peter as a guest was apparently the stimulus the publisher needed to agree to spring for bringing Peter over, and the con I was working on became the opening leg of his US visit. I was delighted to broker the deal.

I spent time hanging out with Peter in the bar when I wasn't otherwise occupied (I was the guy who dealt with the hotel for the convention), and found him a splendid fellow.

That is lucky indeed. It's funny, I always pictured him as a great guy so it's good to hear that he really is one.

One of the great things about the SF field is that the vast majority of folks working in it are nice people you enjoy meeting and hanging out with. I know of a few who can be problematic, but they've never been problematic to me. (This doesn't mean I'm especially good at dealing with them. The ones in question haven't been guests at cons I worked on, and while I've seen them elsewhere they've been someone else's headaches.)

For the most part, SF pros are friendly and mutually supportive, happy to praise other's work and provide advice and tips, even though they are technically in competition. This is especially noticeable among artists working in the genre, but applies to writers, too.

One of the reasons I've been involved in organized SF fan activity for years has been the opportunity to meet and become friends with some extraordinary people.

Well, it would help if we knew a rough synopsis for it.. Or do you just want a title, any which one?

If the later is the case...

I would go for "Sound really doesn't carry well in the inter-sideral void."

Anyway, I found a title, but thank you for your suggestion. I'll keep it in mind for the next one
