I've finally got round to starting The Ark, which I downloaded quite a while ago, and I have to say - what a cracking good read! I can't wait to read the rest. (And buy the new Tyler Locke when it comes out.)

Well done, Boyd - you thoroughly deserve your success!

Wanted to let you know that Simon and Schuster has moved the US release to June 2010. Although it's an additional wait, both for me and for readers, I think it's great news because it gives booksellers and reviewers more time before the book launch.

It's great to see so many UK readers on Mobileread. I'd like to share the cool UK cover I just got.

It is a shame you are compared to Dan Brown. He is not a good enough to dot your i's.
Are you managing to get any writing done? Can not wait for a new thrill ride. :-)

I think the publisher's feeling is that The Noah's Ark Quest would appeal to Dan Brown's readers. He's obviously hugely popular, so if the comparison gets a reader to take a chance a debut author like me, I'm all for it.

I'm just getting used to all the new demands on my time (which is a great development), but I'm hard at work on the next Tyler Locke book right now. I'm excited about it. It should be fun.

Personally I think you are being over generous. Dan Browns' work is not a patch on the Ark, his success in my mind is due only to the capability of his marketing machine, not the quality of his work - as proven by 'the lost symbol'.

You caught me. I'm posting this from the Gulfstream dealership. You would not believe what they want to charge for gold faucets in the master bathroom.

I like your original cover and the new US cover (and the cover comment by James Rollins).

I'm not too sure about the novel's different name, the cover, and the "Dan Brown" comment for the UK cover. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have bought the UK version.

Strange, huh? Different things appeal to different people. I have seen novels published with different cover art for the same novel in the US and always wondered about it. Now, I know. The cover does draw your eye to pick it up (or even to read the blurb on the ebook version). So, different covers draw different people. Maybe, the UK market is huge for Dan Brown and that would draw customers?

I guess, I'll wait a little longer to buy my "keep me and share copy", as the date has been extended. Hopefully, it will become a summer reading best seller list book.

I have to agree. Having read "The Lost Symbol" and "The Ark" one after the other - "The Ark" is much, much better.

Thanks, jb and nonny! I'm glad you liked it so much. I just try to write what I would like to read.

Dreams, I've also seen my German cover, which looks very different from the US and UK covers, so I do think each market has unique tastes.

I just wanted to share my first appearance in a US magazine article. It's in American Way, the American Airlines in-flight magazine. If you fly on American in January, look for the article on self-publishing titled, "The End" is just the beginning. Mobileread gets a deserving mention for being so supportive of my work. Here's the online version:

http://www.americanwaymag.com/boyd-m...blished-author

In the US, THE ARK is set for release on May 11 in hardcover, audio, and electronic versions. In other countries, the release date varies, as does the title.

If you're in the US and can come visit me on my book tour, I would love to meet you. When THE ARK comes out, I'll be going to Seattle, Portland (Oregon), Los Angeles, Houston, Denver, and Phoenix. I'll post details on my web site when I get them.

Congratulations, Boyd it's a great article! How exciting to actually do a book tour! I'm too far away to attend, but may have to find a way to get my own signed copy of an author "I followed when".

I wish you continuing success (don't forget the fun!).
