I'd never buy a mac. I've no use for it. I'd only have to install some windows-like prog so I can run all my windows applications.

So, a mac is worthless to me.

Besides, it's made by that fruit and I'll never buy anything made by fruit. I only make things from fruit.

for example? Most Windows apps have Mac counter parts that are as good as or better (and cheaper) than the Windows versions.

Oh, and yes you would have to buy [some of] them, but many windows apps require paid upgrades to get Win7 versions that at least work, or make use of the Win7 features.

I'm not saying a Mac is for everyone. But, saying that you won't be able to find [comparable] applications that you use on Windows is probably not true.

I got a Mac for my wife, since she's really into photography and I thought that it was supposed to be "the computer" for creative types.

Now, whenever "I'm a Mac" commercials come on, I scream, "Intuitive, my ass!" at the screen.

That tends to get me funny looks in the waiting room...

So the people in your waiting room don't find your ass intuitive? Do you have to give them instructions on its use?

I hate to say this, but there is no such thing as intuitive. I laugh when people that have been using Windows for 10 years say Mac OS X isn't intuitive because it doesn't work the same as windows. It took you time to learn how windows works.... so it will with Mac too. Of course, 90% of it is very much the same so the transition isn't difficult. But there is one.

True, but the problem is that Mac has from the beginning marketed itself as intuitive. Which has always been a joke to me.

Yep, but it's a great marketing term, you've got to admit.

I realize that you have to learn anything. But the ads keep playing up that Mac OS is intuitive as opposed to the wrestling to the ground you need to do with Windows. It just ain't.

I read all these comments about problems with the various versions of Windows Op and wonder why I've never really experienced any huge difficulties. I've used most of the versions listed. Sure there is a slight learning curve, but for the most part, they've worked fairly well for me. Of course, I don't do anything really fancy.

I have also used Macs in various forms (whoever marketed them to the education industry was a genius) and did nothing but swear, moan and complain. The Mac laptops (I think it was the G3) we were given constantly crashed and had to be repaired/replaced on a regular basis. I've had a couple of bad computers (I wouldn't buy a Gateway again even if you held a gun to my head) but the majority of them have worked very well. I bought a Fujitsu Lifebook over 10 years ago that finally just gave up the ghost this past spring. They just don't build them like that anymore.

Bottom line: it's all in your own personal experiences.
