I don't know if you're being obtuse on purpose here because you think it's funny, or if you genuinely don't get it, but if you re-read my first paragraph, it's pretty clear what kind of 'no buying' I am talking about.

I'm looking forward to the new John Irving ... out this week...the only thing that will stop me is if the price is too high. Sorry. |

I've got apples and pears! And I might be able to get some eggs from the neighbours and I have plenty of (that white stuff, what's it called?) as I generally buy that in bulk. Sugar and raisins and butter and I'm ready for a diet of apple/pear pies |

Sure, it'll be pretty easy for me to continue not buying ebooks I think... I've got plenty of epubs and lits awaiting conversion to pdf...enough that I could last a month or two pretty easily without buying any more books.

You're on. I solemnly promise not to spend anything on ebooks until 1st December 2009.

As to the no buying challenge, I still have not bought anything, not even food. I read two books so my tbr pile is getting smaller.

I now have 400 books to read. I won't need to buy any in November. Or for another two or three years, really. And this isn't counting the various freebies that I've got from Amazon, Harlequin and other places, nor the numerous books from here that I've downloaded with the intention of getting to some time.... Hmm. I suppose the ebook scene will be quite a bit different at the end of 2012. Perhaps publishers will have seen the light and stopped using DRM.

I didn't expect temptation to strike so quickly. I've just received the Fictionwise newsletter, and one of the items on my wishlist has just dropped below its target price. But I haven't bought it.... only 28 more days to go! Last edited by pdurrant; 11-02-2009 at 05:56 PM. Reason: typo |
