I bought a reader whose maker said it would "in a few weeks" support my choice of epub or Mobipocket, and I thought at the time that choice might be important.

How stupid was that

Well, I was a complete noob. BTW It's not just the French. Americans, Brits and Germans have all tried it on over the years. So far I've always got satisfaction in the end. Not a challenge, just history.

Really stupid. You should have waiting until the firmware was published.
Nobody knows what the future is made of.

And it's not like the gen3 will never read ePub.

Yes, there was a time when OpenInkpot for Cybook was actively developed by ondra. But, if I remember correctly from reading irc logs, ondra vanished without a trace a year ago, and since then there's been no progress on it at all.

People can predict what the future will bring. In case of Gen3, I predict that firmware update for my Gen3 that will support folders will never be released by Bookeen.

Thats a contradiction.

If nobody knows what the future hold, how do you know that the Gen3 will eventually get ePub support.

AND, when both the Bookeen site AND Adobes site TELLS me that ePub support is present, how the **** am I supposed to know thats not true? (pardon my french).

I have no way of knowing that the upgrade on their site is actually a DOWNGRADE.

**** Bookeen, **** them up their stupid *****. (again, pardon my french).

MichaelGade, please take a look at our posting guidelines (the link is available in the blue navigation bar at the bottom of every page of the forum), particularly N°1 :

Quote:
1. Discuss Things Politely

Our members have developed a strong, constructive online community. To help maintain this friendly, supportive atmosphere, we ask that you follow these standards of politeness.

MobileRead is intended to be a family-safe and work-safe website. Please post accordingly.

Do attempt to state your point of view in a way that avoids misunderstanding. It would be helpful to distinguish between opinion and fact, and to word your post in a way that helps others to understand what you mean. Remember that we are an international community and not all members are posting in their first language.

When things get controversial please disagree with the opinion, not the person.

Don’t say, “You’re an idiot,” or “anyone who thinks that is crazy.” Instead, say, “I disagree,” or better still, “I disagree because…”

Try to understand what someone else is saying before you react. Because we are an international forum, we have a wide diversity of cultural backgrounds, traditions, and legal systems. Remember that other members may have different laws and practices. Also remember that humor often translates poorly across languages and cultures; try to be sensitive to others when you post, and tolerant of others when you read their posts.

A rude comment is still rude, even if you follow it with a smiley, “just kidding” or “I’m only joking” or “This is meant to be humorous.”

Deliberately provoking other members (also known as “trolling”) is prohibited. Members who post provocative or inflammatory posts will be warned. Persistent offenders may be banned. MobileRead reserves the right to limit discussion that is outside the realm of good taste, or uses foul or hateful language. We won’t tolerate any form of hate-speech.

Remember that you can use the “ignore” function to ignore a member whose posts irritate you.
(emphasis added).

I have edited your post for innapropriate language ; please make an effort to express yourself in a more appropriate way in future. Please also note that we go to a lot of trouble to maintain a friendly and welcoming ambiance here, as also indicated in the guidelines, and we ask *everyone* to assist us in preserving it. Remember also that inappropriate posts can be reported using the "report post" button, with an exclamation point "!" to the right of the karma button.

Can I quote the classics?

"All morons hate it when you call them a moron."
J. D. Salinger. (The Catcher in the Rye)

"The gun made a ripping sound like the opening of the zipper on the fly of God Almighty".
Kurt Vonnegut (Slaughterhouse-Five)

"Curse the blasted, jelly-boned swines, the slimy, the belly-wriggling invertebrates, the miserable sodding rutters, the flaming sods, the snivelling, dribbling, dithering, palsied, pulseless lot that make up England today. They've got the white of egg in their veins and their spunk is so watery it's a marvel they can breed."
D. H. Lawrence (Letter to Edward Garnett)
One of my all time favorite quotes.

“They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.”
Philip Larkin (English Poet)

"That's the whole trouble. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "Fuck you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "Fuck you." I'm positive, in fact."
J. D. Salinger (The Catcher in the Rye)

oh yeah, and of course...:

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn"
Margaret Mitchell (Gone with the Wind)

Poetry in motion man... pure poetry.

Get your postings printed in a hardcover edition and we'll call you a classic.

Until then it really would be nice if you could avoid any offensive language. It's not necessary in order to make your position clear.
