Giggling over an email from Sharyn McCrumb. She posted a list on her Facebook of her audio book releases and who read them. Y'all know me, I had to ask if the same for ebooks was forthcoming. She replied, saying she would love to, but didn't have a clue.

So, being helpful, I offered to do the research and get her a list, which I sent to her about 3:30 a.m. As y'all know, this is pretty usual for me.

Well, I got up this morning to find an email from Sharyn, asking what on earth I was doing awake at that time, but oh well, what was she herself doing awake, and don't tell Charlaine Harris because she'd stake us. She said she was going to use the list to "gently nudge" her publishers. I wrote back and suggested she threaten them with Charlaine's stake instead, because a gentle nudge wasn't going to cut it. Haven't gotten a reply back from that one yet...*grin*.

Hmmm! What type of book does Sharyn McCrumb write? I love Charlaine Harris' stuff. Is Sharyn's in the same vein?

Oh, good. I tried to answer this earlier and got caught in the "maintenance".

Sharyn's stuff isn't really in the same vein (grin) as Charlaine's. She does have the Ballad series that has a touch of the paranormal, but not even close to Charlaine's Sookie Stackhouse series. In the Ballad books, Nora Bonesteel is an Appalachian wise-woman with the Sight. They're a lot closer to Charlaine's Harper Connelly series.

Sharyn also writes the (current) Nascar series, St. Dale, Once Around the Track, and the upcoming Faster Pastor. Her past series include two books about characters that are interested in sci-fi; (Zombies of the Gene Pool and Bimbos of the Death Sun), and the absolutely hilarious Elizabeth MacPherson series. Highland Laddie Gone is one of my all time favorite books, EVER. I highly recommend all of them.

I like the Harper Connelly series. Sharyn's Elizabeth MacPherson series looks like just my cuppa tea! Can you tell hew to nudge her publisher towards some electronic versions???

I bought "Bimbos of the Death Sun" for a starter, since that is available for my Kindle.
Aslo since I had heard the title before, from my SF buddies --- but had assumed that it was an SF novel.

I've told her, LOL. (I didn't suggest nudging, I suggested more *erm* aggressive tactics). Actually, that's how I started corresponding with her, I left a comment through her website how much I enjoyed the Elizabeth series and when was it coming out in ebook, please?

She replied that she thought they already were, as she'd recently sold the ebook rights to them to a different publisher (unfortunately I don't remember which one off the top of my head). So at that time I told her very gently that no, they weren't available, and did the research to prove it. About three months after that is when "If I'd Killed Him When I Met Him" which is the next to the last in the Elizabeth series, showed up in the ebookstores. If I had caught her before she sold the rights, I'd have suggested she keep them and self publish the titles - it would have been faster. However, I didn't, so we'll just have to wait on her publishers - which irks me NO END.
"If I'd Killed Him When I Met Him" is published by Fawcett, Random House Publishing Group, according to the information on BoB. So maybe we might try contacting them, though my experiences with contacting publishers in the past has been *ahem* less than successful.

And very useful to know (which I didn't) during charade games. Somebody *always* picks that book title to act out.

you know, the problem with recipes like these, is you really have to get an early start if you don't want to be eating at midnight. whereas i'm more of a "start cooking when i'm already hungry" person, most of the time.

It's not actually so much that they don't know what they're talking about, it's more that they think they do, are convinced they are right and couldn't possibly be wrong, and <insert software here> has never, ever behaved like that before despite the fact they've used it for years, so the problem is clearly mine, not theirs. The only upside to this is that there are a few people who genuinely think I emit some kind of presence that affects their computer's behaviour as it always seems to work fine when I go to their desk and they humour me by doing what I tell them, whilst saying that it's exactly what they were doing before.

So I suppose it's more a problem of arrogance rather than ignorance
