Dont really have any idea as to what the structure of my poetry is, more just rambles, but heres a couple of old ones (you can read the rest of my cr*p on the site) - which btw needs updating with new stuff, but im really very lazy and typing out from my notebooks is not my idea of fun!
Lost Siblings Her eyes stare blankly at nothing at all. Her smile never fades not even in death. Not another beat of the heart, not one more breath. Such a lonely place, life, after a death. Her eyes stare blankly at nothing at all Pictures of lost siblings hang on the wall. Pain and Regret From the wind that rustles the trees From the wind that stirs the leaves, I hear the word in its silent whisper It taunts me with its unheard voice. In the rush of the tides wave In the rush, one word it gave, Not the same but something worse. With the thunder that rolls up high With the thunder, it came from the sky Both words this time. And with the rain, The feelings met The terrible pain And the regret. Darkest Night The darkest night of my life Is growing ever near. I thought maybe I should play it safe So I hid away in fear. Now I see the morning light But in my place I stay Because the darkest night of my life was not yesterday. --- lots of stuff to read in this thread, perhaps a poetry ebook would be good |

It is required of me by personal tradition that, should I come across an open poetry thread, I post the following. It was the first poem I ever wrote and kept. It's for good luck.
Pennies .Penny for the widow. One finds the world a falling seed we dine and drink on finest wine from ship to shore to seek but more from greed for gifts our spirit lifts. Farthing for the bride. If much is found to lose, thus lost and much is gained to have, thus hold Watch the seas from salty cliffs the gulls, they fly the Sirens call. Pound for the daughter. Follow those who came before after those who fell at the door Fiver for the son. Who rises (fields of roses) and stands tall and defiant the colossus taller still the angry clockwork giant. Money for the family toss it down the well Money for the family to the gates of hell. We come from quests of length imperious faces solemn our tones so serious return to shore of solid mind with treasure troves -the wonders, still ours to find. We all fall down At the door. Come gather round, small children listen to the tale of fallen kings and angry dragons come listen to the story of lost souls and those of us who came before This... isn't: Hear me roar Wacca There’s no light At the end Of this tunnel Wacca The dead sing In lines of four Come to us They call And be no more. Wacca There are walls Of black and blue No escape So I’m running to- Wacca -The end of the line To reach it in time For my day, which starts at nine With the ring of a bell And the buzz of a clock And ten hours of work As an office-clerk Wacca But before all that My soul is trapped By the tunnel and maze In a blood-red haze Of wrath and revenge Slipping ’round the bend Where I’ll find some drugs -A heavensend. Wacca The pills are lying On the floor I gobble the biggest And tremble- With awe Wacca Awe at my might The sudden urge to fight Come get me, dear ghosts The bet of my life Is that the unsettled dead Can always die twice Wacca! Wacca! The walls closing in The clock ticking down In this corridor These cubicals These computer-lined booths With papers whirling around The gun in my hand The pills in my mouth My boss, who’s a jerk The ghosts Before work Wacca! Wacca! Wacca! The pills are the power The power is mine We all have our ways Of showing a sign I will not be crushed By empty souls Time’s running out The clock’s ticking down But just for five minutes The power is mine WACCA! I am Pac-Man Hear me roar. . Last edited by Reyben; 08-12-2009 at 02:25 PM. |

A bit of a rebellious nature for this one ....
they’ve got us by the shorts, and by the curlies, cutting our gonads off. prostituting us upon their glory; thanking us but how? by kicking when we're down; shredding our dreams, once mighty, high and proud. insidious deeds devised, to justify. grown men weep and ladies wail, all now lost. but to some avail a moment blessed; chance renewed and life, fresh reviewed. they once had us by the shorts and by the curlies too ..... © 12 August 2009 |

Resurrecting the thread ....
Tuesday October the 6th 2009. Eleven AM. There was I, sat at the open window sipping a cup of coffee noir. Incidently, they'd over-charged me, but give them their due, they did accept their error and compensated me. Looking out the window, the pavements getting wet. People strolling by, one by one, or two by two - hand in hand; or groups of 3 or 4 - or more. He's on his mobile phone, she's listening to her iPod. He's carrying a bag, she, her coat over her arm; and the pavement's getting wet. There's a group of five, she's on her own. Ah! the first with cigarette, that's smoke's into my eyes; and the pavement's getting wet. Cobbles in the road, greys and whites, yellows and orange, and red; all shining in the wet. He's on his own, those two with a pushchair tiny hands up and waving. she's got a cap on; and the pavement's getting wet. She's a-smoking, drifting in my window. Baby in a pushchair, dad's smoking too; all the while, the pavement's getting wet. That's a nice red beret, a delivery van goes past. she's eating a baquette, he's chewing gum. they went that-a-way a moment ago, coming back no doubt; and the pavement's getting wet. Still no brolly, though as the pavement's getting wet. She's wearing red stilettoes and there's a pair of knee-high boots. orange shoes, Sir ! rather bright ? sunshades ! an optomist ! as the pavement's getting wet. That skirt is rather short ! and his cap is not on straight. There's a black cat sitting in the dry. still no brolly though; and the pavement's getting wet. That's a heavy bag he's carrying and that looks like a Prada, yes ? he's drinking water but she's into Coke; all whilst that pavement's getting wet. That Samoyed's got a limp black cat's skittering off. Policeman, Sir, your hat's not on square. Taxi passes slowly by and the pavement's getting wet. Life is passing by. Hey ! shouldn't you two be at school ? A-hah ! a brolly but rolled up ! Still, the pavements nice and wet. |

Autumn (Villanelle form)
weep now, for warmer days are done, and summer's golden rays grow dim; alas, autumn chill nights have won. bid adeiu, now, those days of fun, as seasons spin and dance a hymn; weep now, for warmer days are done. winter comes too soon; cry begone! will ever global warming win? alas, autumn chill nights have won. days grow weary as nights stretch on, Selene and Jack tryst, on a whim; weep now, for warmer days are done. broad, ancient woods become as one, golden leaves fall from aching limb; alas, autumn chill nights have won. another season's duty run its guided course, as time doth spin. weep now, for warmer days are done, alas, autumn chill nights have won. * * * * * * * * * * Autumn II summer leaves do darken now, and leaves but a rich autumn panoply, Mother Nature's Tao. weep now, for warmer days are done, well worn from toil 'cross northern lands, and summer's golden rays fall dim. bid fare ye well to waning sun, that sets now over southern sands. weep now, for warmer days are done. those days of yore, so full of fun. as season spanned we danced, and sinned, and summer's golden rays now slowly dim. fare ye well oh golden orb come ye back some summer day and dance a hymn to Mother natures due command, no simple melody there .... weep now, for warmer days are done. those days of yore, so full of fun. |

Tuesday October the 6th 2009.
Eleven AM. Ah, sitting back to view the hoi polloi with a nice cuppa "all whilst that pavement's getting wet". I like the pictures this one creates. Autumn (Villanelle form)(my favorite of the two Autumns). This is exactly how I am feeling as I have to start changing my clothing to match the weather...."weep now, for warmer days are done" , as "alas, autumn chill nights have won." Bravo, GeoffC!! These are very nice!! Have you decided to gather all your poetry into a book yet? |

For interested parties...
Poetry - compilation of poetry in this thread upto around July 2009. Created with Sigil [Looking at this file through ADE it hasn't retained any of its structure, though the file looks good on Sigil itself - hopefully someone with a reader can double check for me]. Further Ramblings - a wip which will see additions (I hope) .... enjoy ... Edited : 22 Oct. 2009 I found the formats of poetry.epub to be extremely poor and have spent a great deal of time learning to improve....hence the additions ....largish files probably due to photographs ! book_ADE (poetry with a few colour photographs for ADE?) book_b&w (poetry with b&w versions for most readers) Last edited by GeoffC; 10-22-2009 at 08:28 AM. |

I laughed at "It's been a Pig.." and of course enjoyed "Rain". I did indeed "weep now for warmer days are done," in the poem "Autumn". Thank you so much for sharing your poetry and for taking the time to format them into epub for us. Quote:
