Agreed. I returned my red one for a black one and have had no problems with the finish of the replacement.

pink

my replacement pink reader came. It looks fine but I don't think it is pink plastic all the way through (on the fone they said it was...) I hope this one holds its color. The black and white models are that color plastic all the way through. Amy on the phone said same thimg for the pink but I really don't think so...
anyway, no problems yet.

Well, I had my purple replacement sent to me on or around Oct 3. It looked absolutely awesome until a week later I started to see another bubble on the right side of the screen where my thumb usually rests when I read. I believe my replacement was from the first batch because it was well on its way to me before Ive seen the post about second shipment coming in. Anywhos, I (again) decided to return it and get a replacement. I am still insisting on another purple replacement. Right now Im waiting for it to reach Astak and then back to me hopefully sometimes in the next week or two. I don't know if third time will be the charm or not but guess Im gonna have to wait and see. Lets hope this one gets to stay with me for a while or better yet for a long long time!

I'm sorry to hear that your replacement is bubbling, too! I've got my fingers crossed that the units from the second shipment on are defect free. We'll see.

I still love my purple one, I understand why you want another one.

Dear Superstitious:

You can imagine how distressing it is to Astak as well as the end users we really love to have this nightmare continue. The expense is killing us.

I am Business Development and so am not privy to what they are doing. They tell me the second order is perfect and there is no further trouble. I feel horrible about this. I finally have the deviceI wanted to sell for the last eight months... it is universally LOVED so far it seems... but we have to get this paint thing solved once and for all!!

We are aware!! We all love the Metallic Purple also. It is one of those very unique and unexpected colors that just turned out perfect!

Granny Blue Thighs

My purple Pocket Pro presented plastic peeling, prompting me to press the providers for a proxy. A prompt package presented presently, possessing placating Pocket Pro.

Barely believable, my brand new blue book began bunching and billowing! Bummed! Be it better to banish this blue beast, believing better bonding be borne by a black book? Blame be not borne by Astak, because BeBook in black bears bonding bothers. Bollocks!

(Can you tell I'm bored at work? There's nothing to do here but work!)

To send it back only takes about a week (smug West Coast moment) but what would be the point? There was some discussion earlier on this thread about trying to simply remove the rubbery coating. Has anyone done this successfully? Under the rubber is hard blue plastic, but the finish is not shiny. I don't want to go to the full extent of repainting it, I'd rather just peel off all the rubber and find some way to polish up the plastic so that it looks nice.

My replacement Blue pocket pro is also wrinkling and bubbling. I sent an email to astak support and was told they thought the replacement was from the first batch so I am going to exchange it again.

I suggest you send it back and get a black one. My first was Slate Blue and was peeling, so I returned it for a black one. I have it over a week, am using it heavily, and there are no problems. My black one is from the second batch...

From what I hear there has only been one report of a black bebook mini. I don't recall anyone having any paint issues on the black/white PP here on the forums. One would feel you're pretty safe, especially since black is the standard Hanlinv V5 colour - so it is probably a tried and tested process.

I had mine about a week before it started peeling again. In all honesty though, it wasn't as bad as the first one but being as anal about my electronics as I am, I have to have the perfect one . On a good note though, Pocket Pro is an awesome device. I cant wait to get it back and start using it again. Seriously, I wouldn't have gone through trouble of acquiring my third one if it doesnt worth it. I am determine. I am going to strong with Purple. Go Purple!

Well my replacement wrinkled blue pocket pro is on its way back via prepaid UPS label. I will keep my fingers crossed on its replacement! Course makes me wonder why I paid for expedited shipping originally. Also makes me really appreciate my jetBook.

Mine also has been sent. Packed it up and dropped it off at UPS at 7 this evening.

My first unit was one fo the 1st units from the first shipment. My second unit (replacement 1) was also from the first shipment, but it had time to acclimate and set, yet apparently the bubbling still took place, although not near as drastic, nor as fast. Took a week to start bubbling in the top right and bottom right corners only, instead of all over the face of the unit.

Replacement 2 will come from the second shipment which, it is told, has been properly prepped coated, and not rushed for preorders. Also, as it has been told by Robertb, all original first-shipment units have been returned to the factory, so any and all units Pocket PRO products purchased from this point forward will be from the properly-prepped production. (see, I can do alliteration too)

I have the purple one and the paint is also coming off and I've only had it for six days. I hope later shipments improve on this. Besides it's no big deal I can still read my books.
