Are you having a good time?

Finally relaxing after one of the craziest days I've ever had (probably nothing to those of us with children though, lol). Set up the show in about an hour with the help of my parents who were visiting, then spent all afternoon freezing in the hallway and saying hello to people who came in to see the paintings and the building's inhabitants leaving for, then returning from their Saturday shopping. Packed up the show at around 7:30 with the help of a friend who miraculously happened to come (I was too stupid to ask anyone to help), then ran with her to a gallery where one of my videos was selected for a festival. The "opening night" turned out to be a screening of all the selected videos (around 18 I think), including mine. It was very weird to see my work projected in front a room of -gasp- about 30 people (although about half of them left before it was my turn I think). And I think some of them even liked it!!!

Tomorrow should be pretty much the same except for the gallery, which is closed on Sunday, and hopefully I will see more friends tomorrow (including Zelda) and people will be more relaxed and have time to actually look at my stuff

seriously !! forget your liseuse, pfff !!! what were you thinking ?

but, how do you like that book ? i read the first 10 pages from the library but didn't have time to read the whole thing before i had to return it (it was reserved by someone else so i couldn't keep it longer) and then waited A YEAR for the price of the ebook to be lowered (and the day the pocket edition was available, i sent a little email to the publisher, saying "i am sure, that now the paper edition is available for 7€, you won't leave the ebook at the original price of 19€, right ? right ????" ) and as soon as the price went down i bought it. but then i got distracted and never finished it (ironic, since i was so frustrated while i was waiting... ) maybe i should go back to it, then we can read it together, like a mini-bookclub !

I had some crazy idea that I was bringing too much work, would have zero time to read, and just didn't want to bother with it. What was I thinking??? So here I am with no ebook reader, no clothes, and I smell like I've spent the past 48 hours in the clothes I'm wearing (cuz that's what I've had to do). But I do have a nice book to read, thanks to Zee.

Well, Ms, err, Zelda was it? What a strange name. Ahem, anyway, no, I will remain very simple and approachable of course. And the dark glasses are only to protect my delicate artist's eyes against the ugliness of everyday life

I finished a bit early yesterday because of that opening at the gallery, but today I will stay until 8 pm.

The day was rather enjoyable actually, I met a lot of my neighbors and many were curious and interested. They all sympathized when they saw me huddled against the radiator, and one of them even brought me hot tea in the evening. That was really sweet

And the open studio visitors were nice as well. A few of them were disappointed not to see my videos. I had mentioned them in the program but balked at the last minute at the idea of leaving my brand new MacBook Pro in the hallway, in reach of children and thieves. But today I will bring it and show the videos. I'll just keep an eye on it and try to bring it back home in good shape

Well I am attempting to do a roast dinner. Already realised I have too many parsnips so I haven't roasted any potatoes (I love roast parsnips anyway), and this is only for me and the cat as a practice run to cook my highly supportive S.O. a roastie to say thank you

Yes, all of them actually, on my website (Quicktime format) or on Vimeo. The one that was selected for the festival is The Color of Time.

i only read the first 10 pages in the library book. when i finally bought it, i read more, but meanwhile a very rude member had tried to spoil my pleasure by posting several lengthy (terrible) reviews of the book (and also told me the ending. grrr. ). i didn't read the reviews (except for the beginning of the first one) because i prefer to make up my own mind if i like a book or not, but i found that i couldn't get some of the details out of my head as i was trying to read (notably the ending...) and i had also several other new books at the time, so i decided to put it aside for a little while in hopes of forgetting those details in the meantime, and then, i got distracted by other books and never went back to it. but i think enough time has passed now, i can take it up again.

ah yes, well in that case of course, it's perfectly normal.

thank you florence for the invitation, it was great to see your paintings in person ! and to discover your sculptures as well. you will notice that i have many witnesses (your neighbors and visitors) who can attest that we have been seen speaking together, so there is no point trying to pretend you have no idea who i am the next time you are having drinks at the meurice !

If you never have seen the 1975 movie and you are a Doc fan, you're in for a treat. Just don't take it too seriously. Think Freckled Shark.

Here's another cheap and easy dinner receipe.

(It can be done with mushrooms very nicely for the veggie people.)

Some boneless chicken (2 breasts or equal quantity of dark meat)
One can Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup
Half of a can of water
Cup of so of 5 minute rice (I use the brown rice kind, but you can use white)
Seasoning to taste (I use garlic and onion powder, but I expect any sort of seasoning would do just fine.)

How to do it.

Whisk soup and water together until well mixed. Pour into baking pan. Add rice until combination is kind of a thick paste. Put chicken on top. Put on a cover and bake in over at 375 F for 1hour forty-five minutes. Take out of oven, remove lid and fill plate.

Serves two. Can be scaled up as large as you like....
