Kafka

Recently read Kafka's The Trial and Metamorphosis both on Stanza on my ipod touch, from Gutenberg. (I love Gutenberg.) Both scarily contemporary, could have been written in this century apart from some of the physical details.

I have a blog about reading and writing at [URL="http://peajayar.blogspot.com"]

Thoroughly recommend Genius Feynman, IMHO, one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. Some of his lectures are on the internet, both in video and audio format and they are worth looking for.

I thought it was well worth the effort, too. Grim, but hey, it is pretty grim out there.

I'm on a pbook roll. I'm reading "Biting the Bullet" by Jennifer Rardin. I got hooked on the series with the $1 Orbit promo, but unfortunately the ebooks are still at trade paperback price when the first three books are in mass market.

I'm only about 25% through but it is very good. Glad to see Harry back. I probably wouldn't have gotten it right away but it was only $9.99.

Thanks for the input. If you can, let us know when you've finished it and how you liked it.

I am reading the Idiot, by Dostoyevsky. I haven't read any of him for the past 15 years. But damn it's good.

Melodrama: Yes
Action: Yes
Existential meaning: Yes yes yes.

It sucks you in and won't let go because it's just so exciting. And still it want to do something more.

This is better than Dan Brown or Stieg Larsson in terms of suspense and on every other level they are the butt of the joke.

This is the real deal.

Just Finished "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. Wow. I'll give it a 4.5 out of 5 or maybe even a 5. I certainly wouldn't say it's for everyone but man, what an incredible book.

I'm reading "Bake Sale Murder" by Leslie Meier, which I got in a bundle with two other mystery books on Sony for $5.69. Pretty cute so far, still a darn good deal.

With you, Kenny: I just finished *The Road* (first time for me) last night and found it excellent. A no-stars-in-your-eyes view of what might just happen. Depressing? Sure! But poetically so. And it does offer a glimmer of hope that shines much brighter than the usual post-apocalyptic sunrise. A wonderful piece of writing. Highly recommended. Cheers. Neil

Glad to hear the good things about The Road. It's next on my list (thanks lieberry!) after I finish Infinite Jest. I just hope I finish that before my lieberry checkout expires.
