My last purchase included "Grave Peril", "Summer Knight", and "Death Masks" - all by Jim Butcher, and "Declare" by Tim Powers. There were others, but I just cannot remember which. I've been slowly purchasing these Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden series, and they seem to get better as the series continues. With Tim Powers I have this love/hate relationship. I hope "Declare" will be one that I would love. Based on past performance, I'd say there's a 50/50 chance.

Orlando Fige's "The Whisperers," private life in Stalin's Russia.

If you ever want to understand what life was like under an oppressive regime then this book has most of the answers. Many people did all they could to continue their lives in a 'normal' manner; millions more acquiesced, both groups were routinely enslaved and liquidated. Which makes the recent libel case, started by Stalin's grandson, even harder to understand. Surely even he can see, with the benefit of history and hindsight, that the man was a monster?

Took advantage of one of Fictionwises micropay deals for members and a 25% coupon and purchased 16 more books; some of which were oldies and the majority were older copies of a series I am currently reading. I now have $3.71 left of my monthly book/misc. budget.

Oh, well. Broke again......

Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett. I'm working my way through the entire series again, so I'm waiting until I get to it before jumping in. Gives me incentive to read fast.

Despite the 40% price increase (compared to last year, I think) it's still a steal at $3.50

Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly and Pursuit Of Honor by Vunce Flynn both on the day of their release. Also bought Heat Wave by Richard Castle (an author who is a fictional character) and Even Money by Dick Francis. Also Dark Horse by Craig Johnson and a Matthew Reilly book for my wife. It has been a very good week, but now I am in the markey for a 2nd ereader!

Had to look it up, thought it might be non-fiction about the quadriplegic condition.

No, just a new book in a mystery series I've been reading for a long time.

Amazon price was $9.99
Books On Board was $22.42

amazing the differences, eh? That's exactly the reason I'm seriously considering buying a Kindle (despite my principles ).
