Blue Pocket Pro finish already coming off

Well, after a few days with the exchanged Pocket Pro, I started getting some bubbling in the upper right and left hand corners, but I'm not sending this one back.

Oh no!!

Ok, just send a mail at support@astak.com about the paint problem, because it got really big, now just to wiat for reply (got it into my hands September 25, i hope im on time [first batch of PP]).

Any news? Are they paying for the return shipping as with the US customers, or do you have to pay for it?

I got a reply from Amy around 1:15 PM (my time) about how to send the PP back and i just arrived home from the Postal Office after send the unit back to Astak. Im suposed to be reimbursed the money i used to ship my PP (they are paying both ways shipments) i just send a photo of the receipt of how much it cost me to send the PP to them.

Now lets wait for the unit to reach their hands and then send me a new one without the GGTS (Griffonwing Grandma´s Thigh Syndrome)

Ho this device cannot be exported legally in the European Union, the CE logo is a fake one...

If you are referring to the Hanlin V5 (Astak PocketPRO), where did you get that idea? It is also being sold by Endless Ideas in the Netherlands, which I am quite sure is part of the European Union. I also know that customs open my Astak PocketPRO shipment and examined it, and then passed it through.

It's the equivalent of a US FCC marking, stands for Conformité Européenne.

And it should not be sold in the US with a CE marking, but with an FCC marking instead.

Thanks Dave_S. If I read the wikipedia article correctly the correct CE marking is only required for products to be sold within the European Union, so this would not be a requirement if you purchased internationally for personal use would it?

Of course if you import something in the EU you need this logo and certification. It *can* be rejected in customs if they think it a too dangerous material (but I doubt that will ever happen for a liseuse)

In fact the device have a false CE mark and I think even the RoHS is a false one (it's an EU directive)

(by the way, this look like this device was "intended" for european market and not US...)

You may be right. I looked inside the battery compartment of my PocketPRO, since the FCC ID is sometimes not externally displayed. There is no FCC ID and the CE marking looks like the "China Export" imitation of the Conformité Européenne marking. However, customs here did open and examine my e-reader package and passed it through.

It's doing great. No bubbling yet. Although, if, somehow, I was shipped a unit that still had not fully cured, i wouldn't return it. I'd most likely take the case apart, sand off the rubber coating, give the case a good sanding, then use some nail polish on it.

But I don't really foresee that happening. I've finished one book, and well into another with no sign of loosening of the skin or warping. Even the back of the unit is free from the discoloration that i associated with the leather oils.

I'm very satisfied.

Glad to hear your replacement is holding up. I went for black just to be certain - I did not want to chance another return. Aside from the cosmetic problem I too was very satisfied with my Pocket Pro and how Astak handled the returns.
