I'm ok. I tend to get a cold every autumn. The undergraduates return from their vacations in exotic places then give their colds to all the staff. It's not much fun standing in front of several hundred students in a banked lecture theatre when they all seem to be sneezing in your direction.

For the first time in what seems like ages, almost nothing. Just waiting for the carrot potage to finish cooking.

And wondering what's happened over the last couple of months. So far, all I've noticed is that it looks like someone found a missing dog.

Actually, if anyone tries to offer an acceptable gift then we usually have to decline it. We can only accept gifts from students whose work we aren't assessing. Occasionally, we get chocolates or wine after the degree results are out. Otherwise we have to give them back.

I'm sittinghere in absolute awe that the Bengals ar 4-1 and beat the Baltimore Cleveland Browns! They gave Kaz's brother the game ball in honor of his wife. Very touching. All the players were cheering him and giving him a group hug.

That would be more comforting had someone not passed the PNS a certificate, signed by Drs Richard Thorndyke and Charles Montague, officially proving that I am actually nuts. And what's more worrying is that the certificate is actually valid. So much for doctor-patient confidentiality.

So, if you don't mind, I'll just re-direct the choir as an entrant to America's Got Talent....
