Die Frage wird sein, als was uns Amazon.com definiert. Für US-Kunden ist eine Roaming-Gebühr von 1.99 US$ fällig, sobald sie außerhalb der USA ein eBook direkt über das Kindle bestellen und es nicht über den PC hochladen.

Da es sich hier um ein US-Kindle mit Vertrag zu AT&T und dessen Roamingpartnern handelt, nutzen wir rein von der Sericestruktur her den internationalen Romaingservice, solange wir uns nicht in den USA befinden.
Amazon hat es bisher schlicht versäumt, diesen Punkt abschließend zu klären. Nur wird diese Gebühr anfallen, denn wer soll die Kosten denn sonst tragen? AT&T? Die werden sich bedanken ...

Ich verstehe es so, dass wenn Roaming Kosten entstehen, sie von amazon getragen werden. Die Erläuterung ist für mich eindeutig und mir ist ehrlich gesagt egal, wer dafür zahlt, solange es nicht der Endkunde ist. Ist ja egal ob die Gebühren also für den Download draufgeschlagen werden oder einfach die eBooks teurer sind - als Nicht-US-Nutzer zahlt man drauf. Dementsprechend dürfte es dann zB auch keine kostenlosen Publi-Domain-Bücher per Whispernet geben.

Na, das ist wirklich so was von wurscht. Die Books bei uns und bei Feedbooks sind eh viel besser formatiert und ohne irgendwelche Zusatzkosten zugänglich und die PRC/Mobi - Formate funktionieren anstandslos auf dem Kindle (wie übrigens auch alle anderen DRM-freien Mobis (erhältlich unter anderem bei Baen, Fictionwise, K-Thom und beam)
