Same here... It all started with audiobooks, moved on to ebooks, even infected a collegue (who has now a Sony 700 and thanks to him (indirectly), I actually registered at this forum ) and now, when I see some pbooks (especially after I unpacked them a few months ago) I want to read, I go online to see if they have that book in ebook format...)

Strange disorders some of you people have.

A few weeks ago, someone handed me a paper book. I read it.
Was good. Returning to the ebook reader afterwards was mildly disappointing, but it's not like I was reaching at the corner of the reader trying to flip pages...that's just odd.

At least the addictive habit of buying books has been crushed, here- no more heavy luggage! Too bad I end up buying ebooks at the same rate and with the same obsessive-compulsive rhythm, but:

1. I have to rely on the debit card- no recharge, no shopping;
2. my room is marginally less messy after a summer of reading (and a summer with a lot of sick time means a lot of reading, which would means VOLUME);
3. no more piles of books (up to thirty after a love story with a really cheap used bookstore- 2€ per book!) shaking their finger at not having been read yet.

In the end: I can stop when I want. No, wait, that wasn't what I wanted to say, was it?

Absolutely you should !!! Or by the pool. Or in the tub. Just slip it in a one gallon baggie

Not the kind with a zipper, the kind that seals with your fingers........

I always hated trashing books, so having lived in France for the past twenty-five years where English-language books are hard to give away, I have a couple of thousand paperbacks and hardbacks lining the walls of our tiny apartmen and standing here and there in wobbly stacks. Drives my wife nuts. Since I got my reader, though, I've been coming round to the idea that all these millions of printed words are just clutter. All my recreational reading now is done on a 505 and even the info in most of my reference books is available on line. Time for a clean-out. And only a few months ago, the very idea of not being surrounded by treebooks would have made my head spin. Neil

If you don't find a more suitable place for those old books, let me recommend this, Neil: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17422
I've packed up and shipped books on three occasions so far and find it most satisfying since my local libraries don't want my treasures, for some reason.

Most libraries don't take donations. If they do, it's for book sales.

If someone is in the US and wants to donate books, check the AAUW. It's a fund for women going back to school and gives out scholarships. There are local branches, and most of them hold (awesome) book sales yearly.
