I still can't find Rain Dogs though. I can't believe I never bought it. I think I'll get it for my iPod...

hm... i hope i'm wrong, but i seem to remember that story ends very badly, doesn't it ? maybe pshrynk should enact something a little less epic and dangerous.

I don't know if it's the same for the people on the gulf side, but in Southeast Florida, if you drain your pool, the whole thing will pop up out of the ground! Our pool builders told us that it was weight of the water in the pool that kept it from coming up out of the ground because of the water under the pool. South Florida is basically a shale shelf over water.

At the Washington National Zoo, they have a series of thick cables that run about 35 feet off the ground (called the O Line) that the orangutans can swing across. The cables even run overtop a couple of the walking paths. The first time I saw one of the orangutans swinging across it, it kind of freaked me out! I kept asking my husband why the apes just didn't jump down and make a run for it.

It was Adrian - it was possibly written in a totally inappropriate way. I've told you all before, he can't be trusted. (Okay, I've never told you that, but only because I can't be trusted, so if I told you, you wouldn't trust me and therefore would trust him, and he can't be trusted. See? No? Me, neither)

Because they are orangutans. There is no primate more hip than an orangutan. When Adrian grows up he wants to be an orangutan. Ask them why they don't "make a run for it"...they'd just look at you with a grin and say "Nah, we're cool, baby", and then wink (except they'd say it in Bahasa Indonesian of course). You'd then somehow get the feeling that there was a "The only barriers are in your miiiind, duuuude" vibe coming from them, while simultaneously suspecting that there was a literal truth to that vibe, one which may involve some innate ability to fark with the laws of physics.

To put it more succinctly, in the words of The Great Old Man Of The Jungle, "OOK!"
