Ok, this is downright ridiculous. As previously ranted about, while running the RC version of Windows 7 (acquired legitimately from Microsoft, I might add), installing Adobe Digital Editions DEactivated it, and caused a big nuisance to get it REactivated. Chris's school being an affiliate of MSDN Academic Alliance, we just got a free copy of Windows 7 through that. However, now I'm afraid to even try installing Digital Editions til Monday, when in case of deactivation nightmare, there will be someone to call.
I really really really hate Adobe....

C'mon! It'll be fun, and you probably won't get stung, bitten, poisoned or eaten even once!

What the hell , it's gotta be a hell of a lot warmer than it is here right now - I'm sure we could cope with a bug or two ....

After a hot winter, what's your summer going to be like ....

I've got an option to a 'free' 'upgrade' to windows 7, a recent laptop purchase - I understand MS insist on a clean install - I'm not looking forward to having to get all my subscriptions reactivated ....

(Does anyone recommend W7?)

Hot, humid...the usual (though the rain hasn't started yet. Storms usually don't start until November though). They're saying it could be dryer than usual.

Nothing that precludes a daily swim in the surf, unless a TC passes by.

Yes, highly recommended. It is very fast and stable and runs everything I have put on it so far. I have yet needed to use XP Mode.

Oh, and you can upgrade Vista to Windows 7 and keep all your stuff. But, many recommend doing a clean install. The jury is out on how simple or difficult this will be if you only have the Upgrade media. We all hope MS clarifies this on or before Oct 22nd.

Bob, have you tried Digital Editions on it, and if so, did you have any problems?

Hmmm. I think I've heard that it has to run in compatibility mode, but would like to know.

I'm sticking with XP here as long as I can...

I am going to keep that in mind.

I have Vista, which I am not thrilled with.

Cheers.

Yup XP is good. No point in switching to seven for the shake of it.
Seven is pretty nice though But will wait until i have reason to get a PC. (I'm on linux most of times anyway)

Two words: company restructuring. (restructuration d'entreprise)

Announced this morning, effective tomorrow.
I used to do clientèle service, tomorrow, I'll be managing nurses
My immediate boss (the best boss I ever had) is being pushed aside to another branch.
Right now, working really hard to see this as a positive change in my life.

Meh, life is a spinning wheel.

Good luck, Cat. I'm sure that a lot of your skills must be transferable. Maybe nurses will be a change for the better?
