Amen Brother! Every year, we have to print, sign, and send the exact same letter as we sent last year to all of our patient's schools. Yes, they had sickle cell diseaee or hemophilia last year, and they still have it this year. Total waste of 2 wks re-certifying everyone.

I can top that. My youngest brother has ADHD. He's basically had it since he could talk. He's been in this one school district for the last 5 years, and yet every year he nearly gets expelled in the first 2 weeks because apparently no one knows that he has ADHD! Every year this happens.

Poor Kiddo! That has to be so embarrassing for him, again and again, to be put through that ordeal every year.

I don't know an answer. We've tried everything to make them understand that the diseases are inherited and life-long, but they insist on a new letter every year. And don't even get me started on what my friend in the next cube has to go through every fall, just so that once again for th ecoming year, Yes, the same kid needs to bring his blood products to leave with the school nurse. You know, instead of leaving them at home, whiere if he gets hit on the head, he might bleed into his brain before the supplies get there. Stupidity! ARRRGH!

Oddly, I'm being treated with that now. I have wet macular degeneration, with a ruptured blood vessel bleeding into the center of the retina in the right eye. This causes a hump in the retina, and visual distortion.

I was fascinated to note that Avstatin was developed as a drug to fight cancer, and has an unexpected beneficial side effect. It's flattening the bump on the retina and vision is improving.

Improvement has been slow but steady over a period of about 6 months of monthly injections. There's still enough blur that I can't conveniently read with that eye unless I use a magnifying glass, but it's much better than it was, and I suspect may be correctable with prescription glasses down the road. (I use OTC reading glasses now.)

My mother was legally blind from macular degeneration when she died. The medical technology has gotten much better since she had the problems, and we can actually treat it, so I'm not complaining.

(But I doubt anyone gets used to an injection in the eyeball...)

I hope your treatment comes out as well as mine appears to be.

I see you got my problem. Worse part is, they do have an up-to-date computer file, and of course, they absolutely need a paper.

Is it because of a failing infrastructure (grid) or too much pull on the system? Or maybe your glorious leader likes to run the hair dryer AND clothes dryer at the same time, thereby blowing all the fuses for the country.

It's a real shame. Venezuela has long been on my list of places to visit, but it won't be anytime in the foreseeable future because of the uncertainty and all.
