I wonder what would happen if you went to one of those 3D movies in this condition. All kidding aside, well wishes and prayers to you and a speedy recovery. Oh, and don't play tennis for the next few days. That's another free tip. |

Our local newspaper has a feature similar to this thread, but they included raves as well as rants. So, in typical mobileread fashion, here's a subversion:
Rave: The current US public broadcasting miniseries "The National Parks: America's Best Idea". The first two of 6 episodes have aired, and the photography is beautiful. The story is inspiring, and well done in typical Ken Burns fashion. For those overseas, you should be able to find a dvd to order, but I don't know if you can get it in a compatible format. You definitely want to watch this on a hi-def TV screen. For those who have missed it, it should be replayed soon, and probably again nearer to christmas. Every park mentioned so far makes me want to go visit (again, if I've been already), and as a fumble-fingered photographer, I drool at the colors and light these folks have achieved. |

Quietly muttering at a fellow author who's bewailing the fact that fulltime work PLUS a hobby leave no time for writing! OH! Life is SO hard! Try a fulltime job, marriage, energy-sapping medical problems, a toddler and an almost-teen!!!! GAH!
I know. Everyone has their trials. That's why I'm venting here instead of saying, "Geez, you've got time coming out your whatsit!!" ![]() |

Coincidentally, Aussie TV is currently running in three parts the doco Yellowstone. I've seen the "Winter" episode, and Tivo's currently got the next episode from Sunday. I don't know what the whole thing will be like, but the "Winter" bit was spectacular, awe-inspiring, amazing...[continue inserting the usual descriptives to indicate how much I enjoyed it]

Thanks everyone! I guess the next procedure will be next Wed afternoon, a horrible horrible laser thing where they weld the back of your retina tightly against the rest of the eyeball. It was almost completed previously in several sessions, but they can only do about 1/4 of the retina in a session due to the painfulness. This will be the last bit and then both eyes will be totally welded.
And then, probably another vitrectomy on the left to scrape away scar tissue, but not until it becomes intolerable. It is "pulling" and "puckering" and I see things curvy. And it feels like something is scratching my eye. But I can live with that at least another 6 months or so - anything to avoid that again! Quote:
