They've won there first 3 games. The have the legendary Brett Favre as quarterback who retired from Green Bay but couldn't stand to be out of it. He's getting a little long in the tooth but is having a great year so far.

Well, the Bucs have a new GM, Head Coach, both a new Offensive and Defensive co-coordinator and a new QB. They actually fired the first new OC a few days before the 4th pre-season game.

They are 0-3 and I think they have been getting worse since week one rather than better.

Maybe I will become a Bengals fan for this year since I now "know" the DC almost personally.

Today, I am mostly trying to decide which iPod to buy (and indeed, if I should!).

Maybe I shouldn't buy one at all and should save the money for a(nother) reader?

Hohum...decisions, decisions!

Oh, and I'm reading my way through all of John LeCarre's espionage novels. In the wrong order, as it happens, but I'm still enjoying it!

As well you should! After all, we here at MR are just one big happy family! We even have the ubiquitous family squabbles and irksome relatives.

Not only are the Bengals doing fairly well, but the Saints are having an AWESOME year. My nephew is one of the Defensive Assistants. He's only 25 and living his dream.

Besides, his dad already has a SuperBowl ring. Now it's the time for the next generation to get his!!

I'm admiring the incredible longevity of a small swarm of insects (gnats?) that have been in the same place for the past decade or more. There are probably two or three hundred individuals that collect in a sphere about the size of a basketball about six feet above the ground next to a sidewalk by one building where I work. There has been such a colony in the exact same spot (to within ten feet) at least since the late 1990's. I walk a lot and I don't recall ever encountering guys like these anywhere else in my travels in the Houston area. I presume their life spans are short. So to see one colony of these guys for that long and nowhere else is quite curious. The stuff you think about when you don't want to think about w***!

I wonder whether there's a drain or a warm, damp ventilation pipe or air-conditioning pipe that's attracting them.

Right now, I am being an exhibitionist: here's piccies from my weekend trip in the town of Magog, in the Eastern Townships (an hour and a half from Montréal).

The first four ones are from the top of mount Orford and from the way down (I'm so sore! Worst part is we took a chair lift to the top, we only walked down!).
Then you have mating spiders on the door frame of our room (at one point, there was 13 of those on or around the door!

Then a view of the narrow part of the Memphrémagog Lake, taken from the Narrow Bridge in Fitch Bay.
Then, the frontier of the US, in Stanstead (Qc)/Beebe Plain (VT), where half the town is in the US, the other in Canada, and the limit is the yellow line in the middle of a street called, appropriately, Canusa. The American agents there give some kind of a "show" to tourists, asking plenty of questions in an inquisitive way. I thought it was funny, but my boyfriend, being of Arabic origins, panicked at the recollection of horror stories of arrested innocents, so we fled pretty quickly!

And no, I don't work for any tourism institution

Being disappointed that I'm not able to buy Joanne Fluke's Plum Pudding Murder til Friday. The site I saw said Sept. 29th was the release date, so I headed over to Books on Board to get it after Chris got home tonight (it being after midnight and therefore the 29th). However, BoB says release date Oct. 1st, so will go ahead and wait til Friday payday.
