Thus, by your own reasoning, Bookeen has no intention of releasing it. (Bookeen has and appears to be acting stupidly on this issue. It would be stupid of Bookeen to NOT release this latest update. Thus Bookeen will NOT release it, keeping alive its streak of marketing/customer-support stupidity.) Thanks for the proof!

It's been "almost done" since the 1st of July. Seems to me your use of language is very close to Bookeen's "soon" use of the language. What's up with that?

I thought it was outrageous that Bookeen would share the new firmware to attendees of the French meetup in July without a plan to distribute it to the public within days or weeks of the meetup. Now it has been MONTHS since then and still no new news, except for yet-another-Bookeen-announcement that the firmware would be available "soon" (whatever the heck THAT means). This behavior is beyond ridiculous!

Maybe we misunderstood Bookeen's first announcement about the firmware and their plan is to make it available during the 1st quarter of 2010, but I won't even go there since I have begun to believe that the firmware update will only be released after hell has frozen over.

Yes, that is very strange behaviour. Especially since nobody have reported any problems with the MobiPocket firmware with folders.

That's about it. For a beta version it seems to be quite some stable beta. So why not just release it? If it was okay for our French members during the meeting, it should be okay for us, too.

But maybe Bookeen knows that no one who switches to build 1.9. or 1.4 may be able to switch back to stable version 0.796 if anything should should go wrong, and they're simply afraid of that option.

Bookeen's "soon" pretty much matches Blizzard's soon
Quote:
"Soon" does not imply any particular date, time, decade, century, or millennia in the past, present, and certainly not the future. "Soon" shall make no contract or warranty between Blizzard Entertainment and the end user. "Soon" will arrive some day, Blizzard does guarantee that "soon" will be here before the end of time. Maybe. Do not make plans based on "soon" as Blizzard will not be liable for any misuse, use, or even casual glancing at "soon."

Well, at the moment we got it, it had at least one problem. That is needing differants version depending what what version of gen3 you have. A bit of a mess to tell customers "ok, look at the serial number to tell what version you have. That also meant having two version when you could have one.

As to the ePub firmware is know to be buggy. I'm not sure how well it works with older gen3...

I'm waiting for the ePub update. So my gen3 reads ePub, and my opus stops crashing every now and then.

Woke up, all excited. It's Monday, and Monday is the day when I get the Bookeen "soon" upgrade. Where is it? Ooooooo it's not here. Back to sleep for another week.

Could be any day.

And i wouldn't be surprised for the release to be done on week end. Friday is usually avoided for that, as if things goes wrong, it's down for the week end.

What a lame excuse that is. We do know how to read, you know. We are not so stupid that we couldn't check to find out what version Gen3 we have before we download the update.
