I am reaching the point of taking my Windows laptop out to the street to run over it with my car. I've installed, removed, restarted, reinstalled at least 7 times. I am running on Windows 64 and have confirmed I do not have DEM. It still crashes. I've given up hope.
SOOO, I am going back to Old Faithful - My Mac. I updated the library this morning, and tried to import my books. NONE OF MY LRF OR LRX books show up as "importable" ??? Neither do my rtf files ??? Yes, the computer is authorized. I searched and couldn't find a thread on the two problems I'm having: 1) How do you open the Sony Store in the Mac Reader? 2) How do you import LRX/LRF files into the Mac Reader? Thanks! |

I would be happy to try and help you, but need to ask a couple of clarification questions:
1. What model is your Mac; and 2. what is Mac Reader? I use Calibre and Sony's eReader library software on my Macs. |

Hi
![]() The Mac software is terrible, but workable. First thing, build a library- a folder with your files into. It won't work like iTunes, i.e. putting everything in a structured library of its own; it just links (and you're screwed if you change the fileplace). Then, open the software and use the command cmd-I (cmd is the apple- depending on the model). Select your path to the files, select your files and click ok. Wait (it's more entertaining if you look at the Status ![]() |

Never heard of Mac reader either. I'm using eBookLibrary or Adobe digital editions to import books on my reader.

When you have the Sony eBook library software running... in the window along the left column there is eBook Store. Click on that... then once you get the eBook Store page click the "Signin" link in the top left. After you sign in choose the "My Account" link also near the top left. there is a My eBooks section there... Click on the "View and/or Download Books I own" link. Then d/l all your books. You won't have to import them. As someone else said, the Sony software just links to your ebook files, it doesn't move them. So, you might want to move them all yourself. So, copy all your .lrf files into the Documents/My Books/eBook Library folder (This is where the downloaded ebooks are put also.) Then from the file menu choose "Import folder". Navigate to that same folder and press the "Choose" button. That should import all the files in that folder. (I would do this before d/l-ing your LRX books since it might add them twice if you d/l first. Hth, BOb |

Sorry, I had forgotten about the Store. When I moved things to Mac (yay!) I re-downloaded all the books- I think there's a command that will let you do it top of the list of the books in your name. Worked out very nicely.

Working without any problems. In eBook Library: On the left pane, you find "eBook store". Here you have to register your reader, like on the Windows version. Then you can import files or folders. |

I'm over at the store with a Windows computer at the moment. Will come back up and review answers when I'm back on my Mac at home.
You are correct - it is the Sony E-reader (for Mac). I wanted to be sure everyone was clear that is what I was using MAC Sony e-reader, not WINDOWS Sony e-reader. When I went to file-import to the folder where I stored my books, all of the e-pub books were fine. My LRF and LRX were "lighter" and wouldn't let me choose them to import. I will try the command I and select the folder. And thanks for the clue about not moving the folder. I have learned not to do that because Windows loses things, but I'm spoiled on the Mac. I'll also recheck along the side for the sony store. I didn't see it, but I was pretty bent out of shape by the whole windows thing by then. I also like the idea of re-downloading from the store. I love my reader - I hate Sony's software on Windows. Thank you. |

When I originally installed the Adobe Digital Edition Reader, I placed it in my dock. The download for the e-reader did not. So clicking on the "book" was not opening the correct program, it was opening Adobe Digital Edition.
When I actually connected my Reader to the Mac, it opened in the Reader (and authorized itself) and I can now import my books. I have Synced to the Mac, and will be using it from now on. And yes, the ebook store is right where it is supposed to be - just like on the other version. Everything installed correctly once I opened the correct program. ![]() Thank you for being helpful instead of making me feel stupid. ![]() But, today isn't a total loss. While I was hanging out with my husband at the store, I finally had a chance to finish my video to add to my Amazon Review of the 600. I keep pushing it over there in "Kindle Land." Hmm, I own a Mac and I'm an Amazon Reviewer who buys a Sony. I think I'm a bit of a rebel! |

Maybe I'm missing something, but everyone does know that the Sony eBook Library Software 3 (and maybe prior versions) will authorize, and open EPUB files, so Adobe Digital Editions Reader isn't needed, right?
And additionally, Grandma Aubbie, you do understand that having a program in the Dock is not what determines if it is considered the native application for a file, right? From your description, it sounded like you made the connection that the book opened in ADE instead of the Sony Library because ADE was in the dock while the Sony Library was not. |

![]() As for the dock, drag-and-drop from the application folders should work fine ![]() |

I downloaded the Sony Library, but then accidentally opened/used the Adobe Digital (mistakenly) from the Dock. My Sony Library is now in my Dock - and I've removed the Adobe Digital. |
